Question about DeLonghi Microwave Ovens

Open Question

Hello. I have a Delonghi microwave (model no: AG925EFY) which is not heating food, but otherwise seems to be operating fine (i.e. lights come on, etc). I think I may have pressed something by accident and now when the microwave is on, the top left hand icon flashes (I think it indicates auto reheat) along with the normal heating icon. I don't know how to get rid of it or how to reset the microwave to factory settings. PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP!!!

SOURCE: Amana microwave comes up with an F 4

Your temperature sensor is defective.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

You can download Amana owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

SOURCE: it turns on ...lights up but doesnot heat or warm the food

Sounds like the magnetron has failed. This is the component that produces the microwaves that heats the food.

The cost of the magnetron is about 95% of the cost of a microwave oven. Most people don't, for this reason, replace the magnetron, they replace the whole oven which is probably what you will end up doing.

There is a possibility that the circuit that provides power to the magnetron is faulty and you need to take it apart, find the proper electrical leads and test them with a volt meter. To do this you have to remove it from its mounting and take it apart. It is a fairly lengthy process however.

SOURCE: GE spacemaker microwave does not heat food; fine otherwise.

Most likely the hi volt energy components. Usually the hi volt diode or hi volt capacitor. There is hi energy stores here so be careful or do not attempt it. A person skilled in electronics, tv repair, or microwaves can handle it . It is usually worth repairing. The other parts that could be the problem are the magnatron or the hi volt transformer; if so, you might think twice before repair (the price will be higher).Goodluck, Macgivor

Hi, i have an ac925efy delonghi microwave oven, i bought it manufacturer refurbished and when i switched it on there was a big bang and a flash. it came from what looked to be the back top right hand...

From your description it is the magnetron that heats the food that has gone, I suggest that you take it back for a refund, because if you decide to fix it the repairs will run you more than what the microwave oven is worth.

My delonghi 800w microwave oven works but does not heat up food

If your handy with getting the cover off and looking inside... check the obvious.
I suspect :
fuse
thermister
relay
If both microwave and Heating elements dont work, then I will assume the magnetron is ok, ans we are dealing with a high voltage issue... and you will need at best... a volt meter and or neon troublelight...
moust appliances have a simple schematic inside... I would start with the heating element first... trace wiring back to circuit board... usually one side of the heating element is connected to the white wire (neutral) and live (Hot) side is controlled thru the circuit board... so finding the neutral should be easy... then trace with neon light or voltmeter...

I know easy for me to say... but with everything else working... it doesnt seem to be the microprocessor that controlls the unit...

Mw8992rd seems to be working fine except won't heat food. timer, touch pad, inside light, carousel all work fine. tried different times and power levels but still no heat.

Hello,
This sounds like a bad magnetron that would have to be replaced. There is up to 2000 volts stored in a microwave, even when unplugged. For saftey reasons I would strongly suggest you have a qualified technician check it out.
Hope this helps.
