now, that's not nice. That's precisely how you determine if your sound device is functioning.

I've somehow managed to delete my sound device on my windows vista pc. Where can i download a new one for free and whats the best one to get?

You didn't delete the sound device itself... You deleted the software telling your computer how to run the physical sound device on your motherboard. If you know what the name of the one you have is.. you can go out to the manufacturers website and download it's drivers. If your using a Major brand computer chances are the drivers exist at the computer manufactures website under their support section for the model of computer you have.

My speaker wont work when i play anytin on internet wit sound i dnt hear a sound from my speakers

1: check the speaker wire. it should connect to a green port at the back of the computer.
2. In control panel open realtek audio device manager. it will tell you where its connected
3. try to configure the speaker from audio device manager on the system tray volume icon
still doesnt work then uninstall the driver for sound card from device manger
restart the computer

Not recognizing the speakers.

Operating systems don't auto detect speakers. You have to go into the sound setup in Control Panel and you can tell the computer if you have headphones, surround sound, 2 speaker, 4 speaker setup or whatever. If your sound just isn't working then you need to go into or sound card setup and probably tell it what you have plugged into each jack or let it auto detect your speakers.

I have no sound and a split drive

It seems to me that the driver is not installed in your Japanese XP version. You should get the model number of the sound card if possible and go to the manufacturers website. Do a search for the driver, download it, and install it. This will fix your problem. To check you can right click on my computer, click properties, click system, click device manager, and you should find a questionmark in the list. If this is found, it confirms that you need to download the driver. Good Luck!

The computer says no audio output device is installed

Hi Sehajpg,

Did the sound used to work? Did you recently format the hard drive? any idea when the problem started?

there are many things that can go wrong but in the end this particular problem always is about the computer detecting the hardware (the sound card) and the installing of the drivers once the sound card is detected. You can find out a little bit of information by going to:

start menu>control panel>system(if you cant see "system" switch to classic view on the left)>hardware>device manager

I know its a lot of menus but once your there the device manager will tell everything about the innards of your pc. It will also tell you (with a big yellow question mark) what items its having a problem with.

Please go there and see if there is a question mark next to anything so we can get your sound working.

No sound device drivers insalled on my computer

There may be a some file are missing from the sound device driver. You have to notice one thing that your sound device is inbuild or sound card . The inbluid sound device is attach from the mother board(it is like a chip form the mother board and sound card is attach in the slot of the mother board.

In the inbuild sound card driver is comes with the mother board cd any way you can get the cd for both.

Now i tell you the installation
  1. Right Click My Computer icon and go to the properties
  2. Goto the hardware tab and click the device manager
  3. There you see the sound, viedo and game conntroller.
  4. right click the sub files and click on the update .
  5. Put the sound card on the cd driver.
  6. and install the device driver and restart the computer.
these are the sound card method to install.

My computer is telling me i have a counterfit copy of windows XP. It is also telling me i have problems with my sound device and graphics/video card can you help me please.

If the Windows XP is from a different computer that has been registered with Mircosoft, it will read as conterfit - Windows XP is setup for one licence per computer. If that computer that XP was on is no longer, you might be able to call Microsoft and tell them that, and get them to validate that copy for you. As for your Sound and Graphics, it sounds like you don't have the correct drivers for them, each computer is different with different drivers needed for each interface. You will have to have the make and model for each device and find the drivers for them.

Hello.

You can go to the control panel and then double click the sounds and audio device. On the audio, under default device select the newly installed device audio or what ever indicated in the selection.
