Question about Acer Aspire One PC Notebook
Clean your Pad with a moist wet tissue and dry.
In Control Panel -> Devices manager -> uninstall the mouse/pad driver and either use detect new plug-and-play hardware via the top of the tree in the device manager listing (eg. you Computer name) context menu or simply reboot to force a new re-install of the driver for your Pad and Mouse and see if it solves the problem.
If your Pad is the Synaptic type, install your Netbook driver for the Pad.
Hope that re-installing the driver and Pad utility solve your issue let me know how you go.
ps. Worst case, your Aspire One should still be under manufacturer warranty.
