Update the firmware from Garmin website, and do master reset. That should fix the problem. worked on mine

This will completely wipe all data on your unit including almanac data (satellite information).

Your unit would then need at least 20 minutes with clear view of the sky to update the almanac and reacquire.

To reset the unit you need to press the bottom right hand corner of your screen and hold in (relatively firmly) and then press and hold 'power'. You need to hold both for 30 seconds.

Hi iam from sweden and i got new navi i buy yesterday nuvi 1340 and i got satalite problem it cant finde somthing gps thinks iam in stockholm but iam in gothenburg and i have been testing it waited 3...

You should shut off the nuvi (recharge if required) and take it outdoors, to an open area that has a view of the southern sky. Place it on a non-moving object and turn it back on. Allow it to get a "fix" on a satellite signal - it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes or so at this point.

I used my 705 on my trainer and it did not record distance or speed like my forerunner does. The 705 works fine on the road

the Garmin Edge series rely on GPS to track your location from point A to point B thereby calculating your speed and distance. Its no different from any other GPS unit which require a clear view of the sky. It does not sense wheel movement, so using any GPS on a trainer will show no movement and using it indoors will give you a bad signal. The sensor on the crank used on the Edge 705 is only for cadence and not speed.

Same problem, wait tracking satellites

make sure you are in view of clear sky, large buildings, trees and even clouds will make it harder to track satelites.

Garmin 260w won't acquire satellites

If a device is used daily it should be able to acquire satellites in a minute or less. Using a GPS device while it is outdoors with a clear view of the entire sky is the ideal condition for acquiring satellites. Please know that there can be several different factors that may cause a GPS unit to not acquire satellites:
  • If your unit is trying to acquire satellites for the first time, it may take longer than normal to establish an initial position. If the unit is powered on and outdoors with a clear view of the sky this should not take more than 3-5 minutes.
  • If your unit has not been used for an extended period of time (more then a month), it may take 3-5 minutes to acquire satellites.
  • If your unit is indoors, it may not acquire satellites. Even standing next to a window indoors will block a majority of the sky which is needed for a device to locate and lock onto a satellite signal.
  • If you have just finished updating the software in your unit or you have performed a master reset, your unit may take 3-5 minutes to acquire while outdoors as the data that is used to locate satellites may have been erased.
  • If your unit has traveled over 500 miles while turned off or not tracking your travel, it may take 3-5 minutes to acquire even in ideal conditions.
  • If your vehicle has a protective coating on its windshield or electronic devices which interfere with the unit receiving signal, your unit may need an external antenna* in order to acquire satellites.
    • If you suspect this to be an issue, try taking the unit outside of the vehicle with a clear view of the sky for 3-5 minutes so that the unit can acquire satellites. If your unit loses satellites once moved back into your vehicle you will most likely need an external antenna*.
If your unit is still having trouble acquiring satellites, please ensure that it has the latest version of operating software by using our WebUpdater program. Once your unit is updated please allow the unit to acquire satellites outdoors in a stationary position with a clear view of the sky.

Go outside with a clear view of the sky. You won't be able to get a signal indoors, or even in a parking garage. The unit needs a clear view of the sky.

Receiver not picking up satalites

Sometimes it could take up to 10-30 mins with the GPS turned on and in a clear sky veiw , also not moving -like just laying on the porch or dashboard of a car to re-aquire sats and it datum table.

If that does not work, to fix the antenna would mean prying the unit apart to access the connection on the board.

If you know your coordinates, enter them on the position screen.

Use the track pad to highlight the coordinates on the position screen. Press "enter".  Use the track pad to change the digits to match your current position.  Place the GPS where it has a clear view of the sky and wait.  If you have a power cord, plug it in as it may take as much as half an hour.  Do not move the GPS while it is trying to acquire.  The antenna should be vertical.

If the GPS still doesn't acquire, it may have lost the satellite almanac data, which has changed since that unit was manufactured.  I could not find a software update on Garmin's website for that model, however, it is possible to transfer the almanac data from another garmin.  Post a follow up message here and I can give you more instructions if needed.
