hi there. Use a lens cleaner to clean your CD player's lens properly. Unscrew the top cover of the player and locate the laser lens, which is located just adjacent to the central disc drive. ... If theCD player is still skipping after the lens has been cleaned, there is likely a hardware problem that needs to be solved.31 Mar 2015
Why does a CD player skip? They don't scratch as easily as vinyl LPs, but I've damaged half a dozen CDs over the years. If a CD is skipping, first give it good clean using a CD wipe or mild soap and water. Dry carefully with a lint-free cloth in a straight line from the centre to the edge. Rubbing in circles can cause more damage.12 Aug 2005Buyer beware: to fix a CD that skips, first try good old soap and water ...www.telegraph.co.uk/.../Buyer-beware-to-fix-a-CD-that-skips-first-try-good-old-soap-an...Search for: Why does a CD player skip?

they do not work generally, can try blowing compressed air in bay, but not a lot short bursts and not so it causes frost. then wait a min . Also make sure you have no scratches on disk. Can use brasso LIGHTLY to resurface a disk
The laser pick-up unit fault [weak]. You have to replace it with a new one of similar number. Contact any service technician. To replace this part, you have to take out the whole mechanism from the system; and this is a skilled work.

Sounds like your cd player is dirty or the disk you are trying to play is scratched and not useable?
You can purchase a cd disk cleaner at any department store or office supply. All you do is play the disk and follow the instructions. Some come with a mix of alcohol & water and have small brushed on the disk itself to place the liquid and this helps clean out your equipment. Others clean without liquid.
Check the disk itself for scratches and try wiping it off with a lint free towel. After cleaning your cd player, try playing it again and if it still skips - replace the cd. If a brand new disck skips in your disk player after cleaning it then your lazer might need repair and I would recommend taking it in to a local stereo installation and/or repair shop.
The "read-ahead" memory cache is too short.
Not much you can do, short of replacing the player; however:
Does your CD player support playing MP3's?
Convert your Audio music CD's to MP3.
The same audio music is "smaller" in MP3 format than audio format. More of the song can fit in the memory cache so it is less likely to "run out" of mermory and skip.
Your LG dvd player's lens might need cleaning. It is having a hard time reading those cds that is why it sometimes skips or just stops in the middle of playing them. Does this happen also to new cd's? Sometimes cleaning those cds helps the lens reading them.
If you have a disk cleaner, you can run that for 30 seconds on your player. It that does not help, then you might need to open your DVD player's casing and clean the lens manually by opening your player, get a soft cotton earbud and damp in an alcohol and gently wipe your dvd's lens. Then try to return back everything and test playing cd.
Either the disk is dirty or the laser lens is. Buy a DVD lens cleaner and use on your player. For the disks, carefully wipe it with lint-free cloth or toilet tissue. Be careful not to scratch the disk. All you are really trying to do is wipe off any fingerprints or lint/dirt.
This sounds like it could need just a simple cleaning with a lens cleaner disc, or could be a bad spindle motor or spindle servo circuit, or the laser is getting weak, and last but not least It very well could be a damaged or dirty slider rail or motor assembly. In my opinion, the only one that is worth the money to try, would be the cleaning. Good Luck
