Question about Dryers

1 Answer

I am looking at buying a dryer for $10.00, but the lady says when she presses the start button, she just gets the buzzer. It sounds like an easy fix, but I am not sure. Do you have any idea what it could be? Thanks.

The 'buzzling' noise is the Dryer motor struggling to spin.
If the Motor is in good condition, then replacing the 'motor start capacitor' may solve this issue. The motor start capacitor will probably cost you about the same as or more than this dryer 'bargain' price.

Hope it helps and vote accordingly!

I have a Maytag LSE7806ACE. When I press the start button on the dryer the buzzer sounds and the dryer does not start

Have you tried opening the dryer door and holding down the door switch and the start button while a 2nd person manually spins the dryer drum? (all has to be done simultaniously) if dryer starts after doing that then most likely bad motor.Probably a bad switch mounted to the motor. Take the cover off and clean the switch contacts.
Here is the start switch but I think it is unavailable. Call the number at the top of the page and they might be able to get it for you.

In your manual it says if the indicator light is on then the buzzer is on so to turn off the buzzer at the end of your program you would press the button again. Heres is that section from your manual

5. Select the buzzer (if desired)

^ Press the "Buzzer" button to have a

tone beep at the end of the program.

Indicator light:

on = buzzer selected

off = buzzer not selected

To adjust the buzzer volume:

- turn the dryer on

- close the door

- select a program

- if the indicator is lit, press the

"Buzzer" button so the indicator light

goes out.

^ Press and hold the "Buzzer" button

until its indicator is lit and you hear
the desired volume and tone.

I have a frigidaire affinity dryer that will dry for a few minutes then turn off and say e68 wich means one of the buttons are stuck i took the panel of the front and checked the buttons and they all seem...

Run the service diagnostic mode to determine which button is stuck. Start by pressing and holding the Select and Cancel buttons simultaneously for 6 seconds to reset the control.

Rotate the cycle selector knob 5 turns counterclockwise to the second position from the bottom immediately after the buzzer sounds.

Press and hold the Options and Cancel buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds. The control enters the test mode and the buzzer will sound 3 times with all of the LEDs flashing.

Rotate the cycle selector knob 4 turns clockwise to the second position from the top and the dryer motor runs with the heating element off. The buttons can now be tested to determine which is stuck.

Press each button and all corresponding LEDs should light. If the LEDs corresponding to a certain button lights up without pressing the button or if the LEDs do not light up when the button is pressed, that button must be stuck or not making any contact when pressed.

Replace the control board if the stuck button cannot be unstuck or if there's no button that's apparently stuck but the fault code persists. Let us know if you need further advice.

Error E68 on Frigidaire dryer means that One of the keys (buttons) is stuck closed (active). Please check whether any button is pressed or stuck. Also try removing the lint filter and clean the contacts of the inside of the filter.
Try performing function test to check which button is at fault. Enter function test mode and perform key (button) test to determine which button is at fault. Carefully free the and perform the test again. If button is free but the key struck code still exists then you'll need to replace the electronic control.

Function Test--

1. Press and hold Select and Cancel buttons simultaneously for 6 seconds to reset the control. The buzzer will sound 1 time and “rES” will be shown briefly in the display.
2. Immediately after, rotate cycle selector knob 5 turns counter-clockwise to the second position from the bottom. Press and hold the Options and Cancel buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds. The control will enter test mode, the buzzer will sound 3 times and all LED’s will rapidly flash.
To EXIT test mode, press and hold the Select and Cancel buttons simultaneously for 6 seconds or disconnect power from dryer. Dryer will be reset for regular operation.

Please post back for any further assistance.

Clothes Dryer will not stop or be quiet

On some Kenmore which is made by whirlpool, there is a resistor connected to the timer control. when the machine is off can you listen to the timer switch and hear it running, making a clock ticking sound? If so, you need a new resistor. Being a dryer, when you open the door and it stops the button needs to be reset before it starts again, right? So I wouldnt be looking at the door switch as much as the start button. It may be the evil one.

Sounds like the push to start switch has gone bad. Not to expensive to fix, and pretty easy to do as well. You can remove the rear of the console, remove the push to start switch (lift the tab, then turn to unlock) and replace. Be sure to mark your wires so they go back in the right order. Jim
