Whirlpool dishwasher has line voltage in and has power up to the control pad but nothing is working, no light and will not turn on. It was in the middle of a wash when it quit.

This unit has a fuse which is clipped on to the top of the electronic control. If you have an ohm meter, check this for continuity, or with a volt meter check for 120 volts across the the fuse. If you have line voltage or no continuity then replace the fuse.

Will run but has no heat. replaced element, thermastat and fuse

okay, you need to check to see if you are getting full voltage, see your dryer will run on 120 but if it is not getting hot, then you are losing 120.

see from left side of outlet to middle you should get 120
from right side to middle you should get 120
total voltage is 220-240 volts in order for dryer to heat

How do you check voltage to dryer?

The first thing you should check on a electric dryer when it does not heat or run is the voltage at the cord.

If you do not have the correct voltage your dryer will not heat and may not even start.

The dryer needs 240 volts for the heater to work. It gets 240 volts by using two 120 volt lines. If one of these 120 volt lines is dead it will not heat. It may or may not still run as the dryer only needs 120 volts for the motor to run.

If you have one 120 volt line missing power and it is the same 120 volt line that runs to the motor then the dryer will not run or heat.

My TH-42PX6U TV went completly dead

Ok, I hope to save you a lot of money. I finally figured it out. There are a lot of hints on the web. Once you get it fixed you will regocnize them. So here is what I did. Had to order the 2 fuses for the main power board from panasonic. The fuse number is K5D802BNA005. You only need two. Once I changed the 2 fuses I go the tv to power up but the red light blinked 10 times. This indicated there is a power problem.
There is a high probability the P board is bad. You can check this by checking th voltage on the number one pin on the p10 connector. TO do this you have to measure the voltage as you power the TV up. you should get 14 volts. if not the board is bad. I bought one on Ebay for $120. Put it in and it works. good luck.

pull the fuses and check voltage line to line with the fuses out you should have 208 to 240 volts if you have 50 or so volts try line to ground if you have 120 on one leg it will back feed with the fuses in,because of the windings involved. in any case you are missing one leg somewhere to get the voltage readings that you have poasted

If you have a voltmeter and some tech savvy, you could check the output voltages (voltages which run the VCR circuitry, motors, etc.). You should find a +5 volt, +12 to 14 volt, possibly a -35 volt (for the display if it has one). If these are missing, then the unit will be utterly dead. Check the fuse: If blown, check associated circuitry on the primary (line voltage) side. The fuse almost always poofs for a reason, and until the bad components are found, it will blow again, perhaps causing more component damage. The switching transistor may be shorted, plus nearby resistors/diodes/capacitors poofed/shorted/defective. In many VCRs I've worked on, a capacitor on the primary side will fail, and cause a dead condition, sometimes causing the noted transistor to short. A thorough check is highly suggested. It isn't fun to install new parts, only to have them poofed by a yet remaining problem somewhere. Common failures on the secondary side (where the voltages noted above are rectified, filtered), are the electrolytic capacitors. Common values here are 1000MFD/16 volt, 1500MFD/10Volt, 2200MFD/10volt or close. Many of the older VCRs pre-90's developed this problem.

DEAD TV

Is good you have checked the main fuse and is good, what that means is you have voltage going in but you loose it down the line,if you have no indication of power(no lights ,no clicks) you need to check if you have the 5 volts that power the microprocessor witch is the brain and it uses 5 volts to aperate, the 5 volts come from a 12 volt regulator so you will have 12 volts in one side and 5 volts in the other,if you have lights or clicks when you push the power button you have 5 volts but one of the other voltages is missing,Check the horizontal output transistor for a short,if it is bad it likely cooked the safety resistor that gives him the voltage. If you are familiar with tv service you have a place to start but if you are not too familiar be safe and call for assistance from a servicer.Let us know if you need more information or how it went.
