Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
During setup of the Lexmark x6575, I received an error "Printing Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." The setup then seems to complete without further issues. However, while I am able to print wirelessly (more than half the time) and print using a USB cord (all the time), when I try to launch the Lexmark Productivity Studio I get the "Printing Application has encountered a problem..." error again and the productivity studio shuts down after the error report was sent to Microsoft. In short, I can't ever launch the Lexmark Productivity Studio (and thus can't scan, etc).
I called Lexmark support and was informed that this is a Microsoft issue. I was not able to locate any patches released from Microsoft addressing this issue. Please help if you can!!!
I had the same problem and Lexmark was no help.
Go to Add and Remove Programs and click on Microsoft.net Framework 2.0 svce pack 2 and click support. Click on update and it will send you to the page for :
3.5 Service Pack 1 Download and restart computer. Go to Start Menu and uninstall Lexmark Printer and reinstall the program from the Lexmark Website (my cd was corrupt according to Lexmark.)
This will solve your problem.

I think I may have solved your problem .. it definately solved mine. If you look in C:\Documents and Settings\<User>\Application Data\Lexmark Productivity Studio .. you'll see an xml file called LXDDPDS.XML .... this file is autogenerated by the productivity suite. I decided since I was getting that error to try this.
I cut and pasted that file out of that folder to my desktop .. then I started the Lexmark Imaging Studio and IT WORKED!!
The file was regenerated and the program started with no fuss .. hope this helps.
p.s. - <user> is the current username you're logged in to on your machine if you didn't catch it .. ;)

I had the same problem, I had tried uninstalling the software and reinstalling, I even tried downloading the software from the lexmark site (just click on drivers and downloads and type in your printer model and your operating system e.g. windows sp2) and using this instead of my disc but nothing worked so in the end I went to add remove programmes and completely removed the update to sp 3.5 from my computer and restarted my computer then I removed the lexmark software for model x6570. Restared the computer again then reinstalled the software that I downloaded from the lexmark site and yipee it works.

Had same problem on my HP running windows XP. I tried uninstalling the printer & software from my control panel then reinstalling it using the original disk that came with my printer. This didn't change anything. Here is worked for me:
Go to Lexmark website.
1. Once you are on the website select Find Drivers & Downloads on the left of the page.
2. Find your model. You can search by model number (Mine is the X5495) & select your model from the list that is generated automatically once you begin typing in the box.
3. Select your operating system.
4. The driver download will appear near bottom of the next page.
5. Select it and follow the prompts. You may have to look at the top of your page & check to make sure windows is not blocking your download. If it is just it will seem that nothing is happening. Windows gives you a notification, click on the information box & allow the download. I decided to just have another copy of the driver & associated software put on my computer. They do give the option to "Update" but since I didn't select this option I don't know if it will "Fix" the problem.
Worked great! Yay!

Best solution I have heard so far is to buy a Canon ink jet printer. At least you can change individual colour cartridges. Further problems exist with the X6570. Lexmark are in the process of sending me my second replacement printer (yes, whole printers) and have already sent me one set of replacement black cartridges. Any problems just send a new printer.
I think they have problems with this one?
