I would check the low votage regulators, horizontal output and the flyback. The relay is the first stage of the start up process so the standby voltages are suspect as are the oscilation / Hv circuits. how are your trouble shooting skills?

Power will not stay on

A problem in a certain parts or IC's on the board. You need a support technician for him to have a test inside the equipment. All parts have to be undergo into tester device to determine which is faulty.

thanks.

GE 46GW948 TV Sound turns up by itself. Checked button looks fine

What happened on a lot of these is the micro switches on the front go bad.

With back off (set unplugged) located the bundle of wires coming from front keyboard to top of set(a small pc board near the top of the middle of the three tubes).

Unplug the plug going to the keyboard----set will still work as remote receiver is also on that board.

Questions?

Same TV, same problem. I'll be watching for an answer. The dealer says it is old and outdated and not worth fixing.

No power/ clicks 5 times.( At wics end!!!!!!!)

I would suspect either the High voltage distribution block and/or the high voltage transformer as being at the root of your problem, especially with the HOT transistor being bad. If this set went out during a power surge/lightening storm however, all bets are off.
