I have an Olympus E volt 330. Worked fine yesterday and then today, my cf card keeps reading error when inserted. I have three cards which are different brands and all under 2gb. All have been used and have worked fine until today. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Carmen

Hey kevsie,
I would try formatting your memory card in camera, but make sure you upload any images you have on it right now since formatting will erase any images on the card. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

Card error usually means the card needs to be formatted in the camera. This will erase it so download any pictures first using a card reader if necessary.

1 pin bent resulting in "Card Error" message. Attempt to straighten pin broke it off! Camera now appears to work well. What other problems might this missing pin create? Should I keep the camera or replace...

Some of the CF card pins don't do anything. It could be one of those that broke. If, when it was bent, it shorted one of the other pins, that may have caused the "Card Error". Removing the pin may have no negative effect.

Have you tried formatting these cards in your camera? You will find the setting in the menu as per page 26 of the manual. Also check that the correct card type is set for xD or CF as appropriate. You can download the manual from the link below: http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/EVOLT%20E-500%20Advanced%20Manual.pdf Please update the question & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!

CF card problem

A slightly similar experience in that a Memory Stick Duo inexplicably set itself to write protect. No matter what I did, I couldn't format it. I was forced to buy another card. If possible, test it with another card or two. If it happens with more than two or three cards, then I would suspect the camera.
