If your PC is working otherwise with all the media players , then the fault can be a failure of the Tuner card - the hardware for viewing TV which is put into the PC, please check the driver software of this card.

Look through the settings and see what has got changed, if you can see the menu. If you cannot, show a flashlight on the TV (only if this is LCD TV) from a distance and see whether you can see the picture. Try resorting to factory default settings.

The receiver is hooked through my Blue Ray Disc Player via HDMI cables. When watching a movie the sound is way to overbearing on the effects end making it almost impossible to hear any speaking voices. ...

I'm not sure if this will help you but if you can hook your Bluray player directly to TV(HDMI) then out from TV to reciever via HDMI or digital optical, it very well may solve your problem.

That error is usually caused from switching an access card from one reciever to another, if that is not the case then you will have to call directv for them to send a new authorization

Back ground music louder than voices watching movies on cable

Is this a new problem or always like this? <<<<<<<<

What is your speaker complement? The center usually carries the dialog.

Are the receiver and its speaker systems set up per the manual? Make it so.

How is the TV-related (Cable) audio entering your receiver? It SHOULD be from the cable box, digitally if available, NOT the TV. You don't need a Low-Fi middleman handling your audio.

Background voice, 27 inch "truflat" 2005 model

What you're hearing is the descriptive audio track included on many DVDs for vision-impaired viewers. Does this happen when you're watching regular TV or just with DVDs? If it happens with regular TV, do you have a cable box?

Regular broadcasting sometimes uses SAP (second audio program) to send additional audio, and this descriptive audio may be the SAP channel on some programs. Check your TV's audio settings to make sure you don't have SAP turned on. There may also be settings for SAP in your cable box as well, so check there too.

When playing a DVD, descriptive audio is usually an alternate audio track. Check your DVD player setting to make sure you've selected normal audio for playback.

CNN TV AND OTHER TV STATIONS

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Normally, a TV tuner device (card/USB) is required to be able to receive and therefore watch TV program(s) on any computer. What TV/Capture card is being used? Additionally, on what Operating System and is it cable TV or aerial antenna.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.
