You should be able to find a tech that does TV work to open it up and clean it out. I would say $20-35
PLease rate my help if this helps

Hi my wii console is 2 years old and when we put a game on its says unable to read disc, we have tried ejecting and turning off and back on and tried to use lens cleaner but nothing works. do u have any...

This means that your lens is either fractured or burnt out. There is no way to fix it, you either need to send it in, go to a repair shop or buy a new Wii. I'm sorry if this didn't help.

My son flicked pennies into the Wii console...I would like to know how to get them out. Thanx!

Hmm... I guess your Wii is worth a little more now! ... but seriously, you're kind of at a lose/lose situation here because this is going to require opening the Wii either way.

Suggested Way: (This may not be what you'd like to hear but I'll explain why)

You'll need to send it to the Nintendo support center provided from the support number that came with your Wii Console and send it in to get the pennies removed. Costly? Probably...

So why is this suggested? When you open your Wii you automatically void the waranty; you also run the risk of either breaking/tearing something and not putting it back together properly.

I cannot tell you to take it apart, but if you do, please be very careful. There is a very flimsy ribbon cable that runs with the disc feed and the laser that reads the disc is very-uber-mega-super sensitive (no, but seriously it is really sensitive, do not touch it).

What Not To Do:

Do not turn it upside down and try to shake them out. There are many pieces that are very brittle, hence the hard plastic casing surrounding it. These pennies sliding around in it could easily cause a disconnect and ruin your system, costing you even more when you need to send it out for repairs.

Hope everything goes good for you!

The first thing that you should try is another power cable for the wii. If this does not fix the problem, then call Nintendo and see if the unit is still under warranty.

If the unit is not under warranty go to We are a console repair company based in Texas, and we can get your console up and running again. All of our repairs come with a 90 day warranty that covers the whole console, not just what we repaired. We also offer extended warranties up to 4 years at additional cost. If you have any other questions/concerns feel free to email or call toll free 1-888-389-3038.

My son put a penny inside our wii. my husband got it out (by shaking it) but now it wont play any games. the screen turns black and says there was an error to refer our users manual, which we dont have....

If the system was connected to power when the penny was inserted and was shaken to get it out, Then something has got shorted out. Can not tell you what component. But the penny has probably came in contact with about every component in the console. If it didnt short anything out then it has damaged the laser.

My son put pennies in the wii and we can't get them out. The wii no longer reads the disks

You'll have to purchase a tri-wing screwdriver and then find a guide to take the wii apart.

You don't really need the guide, but it's helpful.

There are a ton of videos on youtube.

It's NOT hard, but you do have to take your time.

Otherwise a local game shop should be able to do it for about $40.

Pennies stuck in WII

Hi khamillt It is possible to remove the pennies but keep in mind that you have to open the device. Your'e warrenty will be void !! If you technical knowledge is ok, then i recommend to view a youtube movie how to open the device. After that, you can look for the pennies (almost sure they will be in the DVD player).

Are Nintendo game disc backwards compatible with the game cube?

No. The gamecube discs are more the size of a minidisc and the ones for wii are full size discs like a DVD. My son is also 6 (going on 7 of course!) I decided to take the plunge after a long time battling with this decision. I just put the wii up high so he gets my help to load/change discs. He LOVES it! He is so great at it too! He loves the WiiSports, which the console comes with. (He even beats me at bowling!) It's a fun set up. I love that there are many games we can play together as a family, Cranium Kadooi, WiiSports, Playground, SmartyPants, as well as Active Life is due out soon and that looks to be awesome for some indoor activity! It is hard to make the decision to spend that much. I have been hanging onto the idea the last 2 years, that the price would drop and I would buy it then. Well, the price does not go down. In fact, it's hard to find at the retail price as it is hard for the stores to keep on the shelf! Good luck with the gamecube. If you still aren't ready to switch, maybe just let him pic out a few new games. This is sure to renew his interest in Gamecube! AS it is hard to find gamecube games in stores new, definately look on for new and slightly used (which are great buys and I've never had a bad experience) gamecube games. Barnyard is a super cute one!

Please leave me a great rating if you found my reply helpful. Thank you! :)
