My Satelitte Pro L350 will not power up long enough to even do a system restore in safe mode; could this be the battery, or the power pack or both? Thank you, lisa [email protected]

Hello Lisa,

How Much Backup your battery is giving? Normally it should be 2-3 hrs. If its less then 30-40mins then you need to replace your battery. You can contact your nearest Service Provider for that.

My LG Vista has started to go into bootloop. Now, the battery is dead and it won't charge. I tried plugging it in and bringing up the safe mode menu but the back buttons won't work. Help!

It sounds like it has a battery problem try this take off the battery and conect the power cord see if it turn on if not unplug everything the battery and the power cord press the power button for 10 seconds after that tey to plug everyhing back as normal and see if it work from now on you might be able to charge your battery and turn on you pc and finally see what you can do about the bootloop by using saafe mode you might need to do a system restore but not available on safe mide if you tuurn it on before select safe mode do this.
To perform a System Restore using Command Prompt:

1. Start your computer in Safe Mode with Command Prompt. During the computer start process, press F8 key on your keyboard multiple times until the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, then select Safe mode with Command Prompt from the list and press ENTER.
. Next, type this line: rstrui.exe and press ENTER.

system restore using command prompt rstrui.exe

4. In the opened window, click 'Next'.

restore system files and settings

5. Select one of the available restore points and click 'Next' (this will restore your computer system to an earlier time and date).

select a restore point

6. In the opened window, click 'Yes'.

run system restore

7. If you are dealing with a ransomware infection, download and scan your PC with recommended malware removal software after restoring your computer to a previous date.

Note that in some cases, System Restore does not eliminate security infections - malicious programs can hide within restore points. After performing a System Restore, scan your computer with legitimate anti-spyware software.

Good luck.

System restore will not restore to ANY point it says it encountered an unspecified problem TOSHIBA SATELLITE PRO L300

Hi There,

I'd like to qualify this answer as a trouleshooting attempt rather than a solution to be judged with negative feedback. Sometimes, Toshiba OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Software can interfere with normal Windows Programs. A possible way around this is to use Safe Mode.

1. With your computer completely powered off, push the power on button and hit the F8 key repeatedly until a screen appears with choices to boot Windows from Safe Mode.
2. Using the arrow keys, navigate to "Safe Mode with Networking" (this allows internet access in Safe Mode) Hit the Enter key.
3. Once arrived at the Desktop, go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore and try the System Restore from Safe Mode.

If this is not successful, you may have a virus (many of which often attack and disable System Restore).

4. If you have a hidden virus, you should download this program in Safe Mode to find out:

http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html

If Malwarebytes does not find a virus then your issue may be difficult to diagnose from here.

Best Regards,

Selk

Removing partial install of 2nd os

You should be able to do a SYSTEM RESTORE to a point before the XP Pro installation.

Start the machine and start tapping the F8 key until the boot menu is displayed. Use the arrow keys to highlight SAFE MODE and press enter. If you are given a menu to choose which Windows to boot into, choose the Home edition. Windows will load with the minimum drivers. Your screen display will be 640 X 480 and the icons will be large. You will eventually see a window advising you that you are in safe mode, click OK or NO. Click NO. That should open The System Restore function. Choose to restore the system to an earlier date. A calendar with be displayed. The BOLD dates are the ones that you can restore to. Choose a date that was before the date you tried to install XP Pro. Follow the prompts and the restore process will run and reboot your computer. Following the reboot, the installation will complete and Windows will open.

If you have installed a service packs or updates after the restore date you will need to install them again.

Good Luck! and please let me know how this works out for you.

Problem with battery on Acer Travelmate 4060

There are probably some corrupt files on the harddrive or there is damage on the hard drive. I would suggest to try using the windows setup cd or sony recovery cd to restore the system back to normal, if the problem is not solved by that then you most likely have a hardware problem which is most likely in the harddrive, might have to replace it, they don't cost much.

if you press f8 in start up to get the advanced startup menu, select safe mode.

start in safe mode and login

then

press start -> now run -> type in Cmd -> Type in the shell window -> chkdsk /F /X /R C:
if asked select Y to perform the operation on next start up.

see if the problem is solved.

My monitor keepp going to a black screen but it still has the power botton on

try to log in safe mode and if you didn't encounter the problem while on the safe mode, i assume there's a conflict with MS software distribution pack and video card driver. go to system restore if you can un restore point says software distribution pack then restore your pc before in an early stage before you have the distribution pack.

The computer turns on with both AC power and battery pack, windows boots up, but there is nothing on the screen, only vertical lines. There has never been any physical abuse to the computer ie. dropped.

Check the Video Cable and make sure it isn't somehow dislodged from the monitor or the Video Card. You can also make sure the video card is seated well in the motherboard. Sometimes when a cord is bumped it can move the video card just enough to keep it from getting a good signal.
If you see the boot process on the screen then the problem isn't the monitor or the video card ... its in windows!
If that is the case try booting to safe mode as it only uses the VGA settings and not all the windows drivers. If you get a good picture there, then run the system restore or an antiviruse program in safe mode!
