Question about Autodesk AutoCAD 2004 for PC

Conflict with Autocad 2004 (using Windows Vista)

Our company has Windows Vista on two new computers - and are using Autocad 2004.

Problem: - When dimensioning, the final result of the dim on the dwg is an inaccurate dimension. However, when you highlight the dimension to check the characteristics, etc., the dimension size is correct as directed - yet not correct as shown on dwg. I have to use the over-ride to type in the same dimension that is shown above, hit enter and then it accepts the dimension on the dwg.

Question: How can I fix this problem - or is it a error due to Windows "Vista"????

Autocad 2004 is designed to be used with Microsoft Windows XP (Professional, Home Edition, or Tablet PC Edition), Windows 2000 Professional, or Windows NT 4.0 (SP6a or later) therefore I'd suggest to run your Autocad 2004 using Compatinity Mode --> Right click on the program icon--> properties-->Compatibility--> select one of the versions above

Why not purchase the _current_ version _directly_ from Autodesk?
You'll get compatibility with Windows Vista and Windows 7;
any software from 2004 will be compatible only with Windows XP.

If you buy a "new" and "fast" computer, it will have Windows 7 pre-installed, not Windows XP.

Besides, buying from eBay might just get you a "burned" CD-recordable disk, with *NO* license-key, and *NO* rights to use the software, i.e., "software piracy", and a waste of your money & time.

AutoCAD 2004 for PC: Are AutoCAD 2004 and Windows 7 compatible?...

Not compatible or not working well with windows 7?
(making a program work with windows 7)

Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver/application you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer/application first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. Just reply back if it still doesn't work.:D rate and vote for me:)) julyallan01_52.jpg

I am trying to install AutoCAD 2004 on my new computer with windows 7 and wont install. Any ideas?

AutoCAD 2004 and Windows 7 are NOT compatible. You will need to upgrade to AutoCAD 2010 either 32-bit or 64-bit. Even with the upgrade, there are known limitation issues.
