Question about Zodiac Baracuda G4 Automatic Pool Cleaner Ne221

1 Answer

My G4 is very sluggish moving around the pool. I also noticed that air is entering somewhere into the system, but only when the G4 is attached to the pipes. No air is entering the system when other pool attachments are attached to the pipes. All the pipes were replaced with proper long life Barracuda pipes during the last week but the air problem still persists. The pulse seems to be fine as well as the suction power. Any suggestions will be appreciated

If all your hoses are in good shape then if you hook it up to your skimmer you may have a bad skimmer.$$$$ It's very hard to check this without proper equipment and knowledge. If your skimmer is concrete or plastic with a black bottom this is the first place to look.

How do I use pool pulse?

From the users manual for these pool cleaners:

The Pool Pulse is a flow meter that measures the volume of water flowing through your Zodiac cleaner. It must be used to properly set the flow and can be used as a diagnostic tool when the cleaner isn't running properly. For the following steps, using 2 people is recommended; one poolside and the other at the plumbing manifold. Vacuum and skimmer valves are located at your plumbing manifold.
• Remove the cleaner head.
• Attach the Pool Pulse® to the end of the hose and keep it under water as shown in Figure 1.
• Turn on the filtration system.
• For pools with one skimmer, flow is automatically regulated by the Flowkeeper Valve. Insure the blue indicator of the Pool
Pulse is in the ideal range (when viewed from the side).
• For pools with two or more skimmers, leave the selected skimmer open and slowly close the other skimmer(s) until the blue
indicator of the Pool Pulse moves into the ideal range (when viewed from the side).
• For pools with a wall vacuum fitting, leave the wall vacuum fitting fully open and slowly close the skimmer valve until the blue
indicator of the Pool Pulse moves into the ideal range (when viewed from the side).
• Keeping the hose under water, remove the Pool Pulse. Submerge the cleaner head, and when the bubbles stop coming from the
extension pipe, attach the hose end. Your installation is now complete.

My g4 is not moving

Here are a few things that you can check on this pool cleaner to find out why it is not moving. Make sure that your pump basket and filter are clean and not clogged. Check the diaphragm for blockage or damage. Use your Pool Pulse to determine proper if you flow to the cleaner is low. Low flow will definitely cause the cleaner to slow. Also, check all of your hose sections and connections for air leaks.

G3will not pulsate/move

If your G3 Baracuda pool cleaners not moving, there are a couple things that you want to check. One of these problems is probably causing the lack of movement. Check for proper waterflow. If the water is 60 degrees Fahrenheit or less, you will need to increase flow to compensate for the reduced hose flexibility. You will also want to Make sure the main drain is closed and that the filter is backwashed properly. If the pump basket or the filter is dirty or clogged, it will cause sluggish or no movement. Check for leaks in the pools hoses and connections. If you have a crack or a leak that is allowing air to enter the line, this will be your problem. Finally, check your diaphragm for wear and tear. Replace it if necessary.

Try moving the water inlets around. Down the wall if you can. They will set a current in the pool the cleaner with floating hoses can't over come. If you don't have eyeball returns you can get diverters to do this for you. That should fix your problem.

Zodiac has suction but doesn't move

With these pool cleaners, that is often a problem with the flapper. Check the flapper to be sure that no debris is stuck. Debris can halt water flow and movement, making your cleaner get stuck.

It moves too slowly

If these automatic pool cleaners are moving slowly or sluggishly, first check to make sure that filter and strainer baskets are clean and not clogged. Make sure that the main drain and all suction lines are closed, except for the suction line to which your Kreepy Krauly is attached. Make sure there is not debris in the flapper than might be restricting movement. Also, and especially if you are noticing bubbles during slow movements, check for leaks. Make sure there are not leaks in the hose, vacuum connections, pump basket lids, etc.

Changed the fin on the baracuda, but it still does not move around the pool, can fill the suction if I lift it up, but it does not move.

If you have good suction at the head you may have a bad diaprham or something stuck in it. If you have suction but it is weak check for cracks in hoses or you may have a clog in your pump impeller.
