Hi I have a Durabrand, dvd/vhs Dual Recorder

    Model No. ADB2737BDS

  • Angharad May 24, 2008

It is the right model number. I managed to download a Service Manual from a site in the US, but it describes how to take the thing apart. If anyone has a similar model, a scan of the relevant page of the manual would be great.

Drives that use buffer underrun protection will pause a recording when
the drive's memory buffer is nearly out of data. The drive will wait
until the buffer fills again and then will resume the recording. If
it's taking your drive a long time to record a disc, the drive's buffer
underrun protection may be working overtime, pausing frequently as it
waits for its buffer to fill again.

SOURCE: DVD recorded discs (from VHS) do not play on other dvd players

I called the manufacturer. They admitted to improper instructions. They provided me a fix to their copying protocol and it worked. Also, they game me instructions on how to fix already copied tapes. It works well and I would have to say I was impressed with their customer/technical service.

How to convert VCR to DVD

no easy way to do this unfortunately. You either need to connect your VCR to a DVD recorder and record it directly onto DVD or use a device such as this http://www.dx.com/p/easycap-usb-video-capture-adapter-5707 to connect your VCR to your computer and record it onto your computer that way.

I have dubbed vcr tape to a Sony DVD-RW disc and tried playing it back through a toshiba player and it keeps coming up Bad Disk. My PC won't even recognise it. When started dubbing the screen displayed 1hr...

Did you say you used a DVD-RW disc to transfer a videotape onto? The reason your PC won't recognise that disc is because the data format on it is a different language to what PCs understand - plus an unfinalised DVD-RW won't play in other DVD players - it is usually an incompatible format.

(DVD+RW discs with titles/top menus created in video mode CAN be played on a PC DVD drive or a normal DVD player as can finalised DVD-R discs (DVD-R discs MUST be recorded and finalised in the same recorder for compatible playback). DVD-RW discs can only be viewed on the unit they were written/recorded on.

The other reason for the 'remaining space' on the disc you describe showing less than 120 minutes is due to a title recently being recorded or erased - unless you format it - the 120 minute / 4.7GB DVD-RW will not show full available space. Erasing titles on re-writable DVDs does not increase space. The same rule applies to unfinalised +R / -R discs (you cannot re-format these to get the space back once recorded - they are 'once only' writables)

I recommend you invest in some DVD-R discs and re-copy your VHS tape to that - then if you are satisfied with the result, title etc., finalise the DVD-R - it will play on any DVD player or PC with DVD support (or it should). These discs are relatively inexpensive to buy just about anywhere.

Final note: do NOT finalise the DVD-RW you recorded (I hope you haven't already done this) - simply format/erase it - re-use it for something else or keep it until you need it.

You can use any brand of DVD, just take note of the format before recording/playing.

How to record a vhs tape to dvd on a samsung 1080

Hello

1.The VHS/DVD player must have recording capabilities.

2 Connect both players to a television so that you can make sure you are recording the appropriate content. You can also monitor the speed at which the VHS is copying to DVD.

3. Place the VHS in the VHS player and the blank DVD in the DVD recorder. You will need to use your remote and go through the menu options to choose the correct format for recording. The formats should be clearly labeled and outlined in your instruction manual. Choose the option that will read something like "VHS to DVD." You may also have to choose recording speed, which varies per blank DVD that you purchase. Every player is different, and every menu will vary slightly. If you have questions, refer to you individual manual.

4. Select the option that works best for you and hit "Play" on the VHS player and "Record" on the DVD recorder. To play the finished DVD, you will select the playback option.
THANK YOU

I recently copied some of my old VHS tapes onto DVD-R disc & they play fine on my Magnavox, but won't play on my other DVD player. What did I do wrong?

Check through, the settings of Magnavox and do the similar region
settings in your other DVD.

In short to say, recording format and the play back format does not
match. if you corect this through the MENU available, it should be OK.

May be your other DVD is old model!

How do I record my vhs onto the dvd?

How about a USER MANUAL instead :D

Please note this unit is NOT a DVD recorder. It only has a DVD ROM drive to play DVDs - not to record to them.

Transfering a vhs to a dvd

Hi jh1014,

If the disc is not playing on your home DVD player, it is possible that it was recorded in a format your unit does not support.

Your friend’s DVD recorder most likely recorded the DVD in a format readable by the player in which you watched it successfully.

Refer to your product manual for more information on which file formats your DVD player supports.

Thank you,

Converting VHS to DVD

All you have to do is buy a vhs to dvd recorder. They sell those everywhere, like costco, walmart, etc. They keep getting cheaper and cheaper...
They will come with a manual with model specific instructions, but usually its pretty easy. The cassette plays and the device records the video onto the dvd.
They also play vhs and dvds too XD.
Here's a good website:
