Hello and welcome to Fixya

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Regards
Andrea

My camera wont turn on not even with new batteries.

Assuming you've almost never dropped the camera and it's never taken serious physical damage, it sounds like the insides of your camera need a good cleaning. Use a can of compressed air (most electronic stores carry this and they'll know what you mean) to clean it. From what I hear, even the smallest bits of dirt will prevent the camera from turning on.

Lens problem, turn camera back off then on message

That usually occurs after the camera has been dropped or dirt is stuck inside the moving parts. I have had this on two cameras; one was filled with dirt, and eventually started working again. If you can try to clean it while it is fully extended and retracted you may be able to get away with a simple fix. Cleaning it in one position may be impossible.

My other camera was dropped into dirt (with a lot of force...fell on it). After trying to clean it with the above method I was able to get it to finally work. The clicking you hear is the zoom mechanism binding on 'something', which is either dirt or a bent or broken part inside. After a few seconds it will shut off to prevent causing further damage.

My nikon coolpix makes ticking sounds when i turn

You could have dirt or a malfunction of the optical system. Get it to a local electronist to get it cleaned.

When turning camera on--- the lens is going back and forward, after some seg appears the following message on the displaz "turn power off and on again". Does anyboday says anythings how to solve this...

Sounds like the lens if jamming from dirt, or you may have a bad gear. Digital cameras often have this problem. You can try blowing compressed air to fee any dirt, but if that doesn't work, it will require servicing, in which case it's usually cheaper to buy another one.

My camera makes a chirping noise when i try to turn it on. it sounds like the battery is dead. i bought new batteries and same result.please help me figure out what is wrong with my camera.

Hi,
You are facing this problem ,because the lens is stuck from inside . The iris is struck and you hear this chirping noise.
Carefully inspect around the lens for dirt or debris.
If you see any dirt or debris around the lens, use canned air to gently blow it away and turn on your camera.

Hope this helps.
Do rate the solution if it had helped you .
Thanks for using Fixya.

FE-280 Lens Blurry Photos and no zoom turns off

You have a bad lens. Unless the camera is in warranty the cost of repairing the lens is higher than the value of your camera. The strange noise you hear is the lens motor trying to move the lens. One solution is to blow compressed air around the lens. Sometimes dust and dirt may jam the lens.

Lens won't in on camera and makes clicking sound.

When you dropped your camera, some dirt got on the outside of the lense or some mechanical part of the lense broke or dislocated. If some of the mechnical part of the lense is damaged, you need to open up the lense from the camera and inspect the parts. Look for loose parts, then clean it and put it back.
I had the same problem with my sony Cyber-shop, but it was not dropped. somehow one or more small piece of dirt got on the outside of the lense. Here is what I did and the problem was fixed for good.
While turning the camera off, I pressed on the lense (up and down motion) softly. After a few times, the lense retracted 95% of the normal retracted position. I then, pressed the lense a little harder in untill it was fully retracted. It has been working okay since then.

You should always keep the outside of the lense clean and do not drop it.

Good luck
