Question about Panasonic DMC-TZ5 Digital Camera

1 Answer

The LCD on my DMC-TZ5 looks like someone ran the image through one of those turn-your-picture-into-a-cartoon filters. The problem is present in both record and review modes (and menus too), both for still pictures and video. It does not affect the actual pics/video once downloaded to the computer; it's just a problem with the LCD display. It developed this problem after I took it to a repair shop to fix a stuck lens shutter/cover thingy. Before I take it back and accuse them of screwing something up, I wanted to check to see if there is some setting I'm missing that would do this. (I've looked at everything in the manual regarding LCD and monitor settings, and also can't imagine why you would want your display to look this way, but I'm just asking). Thank you.

Oops, I neglected to add a very important fact which your response reminded me of: when I press and hold the Macro button, the problem goes away and LCD image looks normal. When I release the button, it goes back to "cartoon." Does this change your response at all? Thanks again.

Hi,

As you mentioned that once you downloaded the pictures to computer it was fine, that confirms that CCD sensor is fine. Moreover, as you could not see the saved image / picture properly confirms that this is a problem with LCD. Unfortunately, repair is never recommended as the cost to replace LCD panel and the time would worth more than the cost of the camera. I wish i could have a better solution.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

    Thanks for your response!!

This is strange. I never came across such incidence. In this case, i would still go with the fact that LCD panel might be at fault. The other possibility is that they have really messed with the camera and cause some other damage to the connections to the LCD panel or circuitry. Unfortunately, as i cannot diagnose it myself, it would be tough to even speculate.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

    Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

How to load pictures from my panasonic dmc-tz5 digital camera to my computer

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 able to download to ipod

Not directly. You can download the pictures to a computer, then upload them to your iPod. If you connect the iPod and the camera or its memory card, you can transfer the pictures from one to the other without storing them on the computer.

Problem with Panasonic DMC-TZ5, can not take pictures with Flash.

My TZ5 has developed exactly the same problem. I took it to DK Audio Services at Horley,Surrey,RH8 9GA. who repair cameras for Panasonic and was told by the receptionist that although the camera works with the flash off at present it will eventually pack up altogether. She suggested that when I get the quote I phone Panasonic on 08705 3577 357 to try and get them to pay for the repair, it seems it is a known problem! My camera is just over a year old!!

Can't find pictures on SC card

Try transferring the pictures to your computer then erasing the copies on the sd card, then putting the pics back on the sd card from the computer and then of course back to the camera.

Copy images from pc to Lumix TZ5 SD memory card?

yes i m sure it would work if you use a card reader instead of using the camera directly connected.. in that case your memory card will just work as the usb hard drive and you can load anything into it..
