Question about Pride Mobility Victory 3 Wheel Electric Scooter
Firstly check and make sure that the free wheel mechanism is engaged so that it will not move by you simply pushing the scooter this is usually a lever hidden in many cases beneath the rear shroud next to one of the wheels usually upon the right hand side as in one position it will allow the scooter to be pushed instead of driven and in the opposite position it can be driven and not pushed as this is often a mistake many new to disability scooters make and are often not aware of especially so if they have purchased the scooter second hand and with out a manual explaining how there particular type of scooter works this frequently occurs also due to the fact many need such scooters but can not afford the price of a brand new scooter which is not really suprising when they can cost several thousand pounds for some particular makes and models when purchased brand new owever if you are not aware of the existance of such a lever and either your children or grand children have been playing with the scooter and discovered the lever and then just pushed or pulled it into position to see what it does or as I have experienced once or twice children outside shops up to mischief can throw the lever makeing you then think upon your return from within the shop especially if it is not possible to take the scooter into the particular shop that your scooter has broken down and then you often end up haveing to pay to get you and your sooter recovered and delivered back to your home which can be very expensive to say the least if this is not the cause of your problem it may be that there is a fault in the breaking system itelf as scooters can and do use one or two or more braking systems the moment you release the control lever to stop the scooter moving in the direction required and at least one of these braking sytems is buried deep in the scooters motor and uses an electromagnetic brake which applys itself the moment that the controls are released and this is the mst common type however there are others including manual overrides for emergency if you find the scooter will not stop simply by releasing the controls if however this is not the ae I would sugget that you get a qualified repairer of mobility scooter look at it as it is not possible to repair yourself if you do not have the tools and are not qualified to do so as the breaking sytems are there for your safety as well as the safety of others and it is not recommended trying such repairs yourself as if you do not know wat you are doing and make a mistake you could find that wen you take it out after you think you have repaired it you could suddenly find yourself hurtelling forwards into traffic or running into a group of people in the local shopping centre or similar events that do not really bare thinking about and in my opinion if your not qualified to make such a repair the it should in this case be left to a qualified proffesional as any repair that could put you and your life at risk should only be done by a proffesional and is worth spending the money upon it especially to ensure your life and safety as such sould take the highest priority especially when it could endanger the life of yourself and possibly others also but in thi cae you ould also start by removing the wheel and checking the wheel bearings and if they are ok then use Some WD-40 to try and loosen the problem and re-grease the bearings and maybe replace the bearings if this prooves to be the cause of your problem good luck and best wishes I hope your problem is resolved very quickly as I know there is nothing worse than being housebound as I myself have terminal Cancer and if it was not for my own mobility Scooter I would not get out at all and would be housebound so all the very best too you
