My SD card reader on my Dell Inspiron 9300 is not working. I have SP3 installed. I cannot find a driver on the Dell website. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the device, but I get an error message saying the device cannot be started. Thanks

I tried that, I now have an SD host controller, but the SD disk drive is still not working. Any other suggestions?

If this does not solve the issue, apparently a few people have gotten their Dell SD cards working by installing the old Windows XP Sp1 SD driver

I apologize, but I seem to be limited in how many characters I can respond in. What I am trying to say is that some people find that the XP Sp1 driver for SD card readers from Dell seems to fix this issue for them in Sp2 and Sp3.

The link to this driver is:http://support.us.dell.com/support/downl...

Sigh, I have tried to post the link twice now, and it has been shortened each time. Search for "R103058.EXE" in Dell's Small Business: Drivers and Downloads section.

Fixya seems to be cutting off long web URL's, so I shortened the URL. This will direct you to the right driver file on Dell's support site.http://bit.ly/9wVVsH

I downloaded the sd card reader driver for an acer aspire 9300, how do i access the sd card that is plugged in now??

If the correct driver is installed, you should be able to go to my computer, double click to open , and your SD drive should be listed. If not, let me know and we can troubleshoot.

I installed a new hard drive in my Dell Inspiron 1521 and the SD/MMC reader won't read the mmc cards. How can I fix it?

You need to go to the hp website and download the driver.

I posted the page below.

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=INS_PNT_PM_1521&os=WLH&osl=en&catid=&impid=

You have a lot of drivers to install, windows might be using generic drivers if you did not install all the drivers listed for your system.

You should download them all and install them.

The buit in sd/mmc card is not able to read on dell inspiron 1525

Try to do system restore,
If that doesn't work download the latest driver for that built in card reader then install it,. if it still doesn't work run the hardware diagnostics of the computer then if it passes without any error you'll need to do operating system reinstallation so that means erasing everything in the computer,.. If that doesn't solve your problem get that card reader replaced.

Hope this helps!

Dell e1505 SD card reader issue

You installed the driver for your card reader for the laptop. If its not recognizing any cards you put in there then that means the reader is bad and since that is integrated onto the motherboard, replacing the motherboard would be the only option in order to fix that problem.

SD card reader not recognizing card

the original file (apparently version 2.0) is here:
http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:2288as3q0skJ:www.asus.it/support/download/selectftp.aspx%3Fl1_id%3D3%26l2_id%3D45%26l3_id%3D0%26m_id%3D1%26f_name%3DCardReader_050118.zip~zaqwedc+CardReader_050118.zip&hl=en

the updated driver (version 2.3) is located here:
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=V6V&SLanguage=de-de
scroll down to where you see RICOH card reader driver

or more specifically this link here:
http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/V6V/CardReader_XP_2K_050808.zip

even though the site is primarily in german, all the component names are in english, go figure. So it would seem that the asus comp manufacturer are a little more forthcoming than dell in this particular instance. for example, nowhere on my component sheet does it say that RICOH is the manufacturer for the card reader, that's something i got from you guys on the forums

anyway, after installing this driver and rebooting my comp, card reader immediately recognized both MMC and SD media. unfortunately, it was only able to access the mmc card, and i'll be shipping my comp off to dell for whatever motherboard replacement they're willing to give me (which i don't mind, so long as it works when it comes back to me) but i thought these links might be helpful for others who are having the same problem.

Kingston 4gb sd card won't read

I had a problem with lenovo's reader like this, because i put in the nokia 6600 card, correct format and all, but apparently too old and not yet ment to be read by a computer ...

sd could still be hc ... the system of names is still not set up right. if you got a small black attachment for the card that makes it longer, put it on and try inserting the card again.

check if all the drivers are like they should be.

if you've got a friend with a card reader, make sure the card is ok. and if you've got a friend with a card, make sure the reader is like it's supposed to be

post a feedback, ok

How can i use sd/mmc memory card reader on my laptop? ia am using dell inspiron 1525 model?

The SD/MMC memory slot is already configured to read standard and HDSD cards. Just remove the DELL blank from the slot by pushing it in until it clicks and release it. Then pull it out. Insert the SD/MMC card into the slot and push it in until it clicks. The DELL Blank is shorter than an actual SD/MMC card, so don't try to push the SD/MMC card any further than the 'click'. Remove by pushing in until it clicks, release, remove.
