Question about Washing Machines
Parts that can cause cycle hanging or stopping in different parts of the cycle are:
If those do not fix the problem, then the central control unit may need replacement.
The door latch can be tested by running a cycle with its contacts jumped. The pressure switch is more difficult to test. Try first cleaning the sensor and the tube attached to pressure switch, then replace the pressure switch.
Also ensure that drain lines are clean, check drain filter located behind the access door at the front lower side of the appliance. Check drain hose and ensure that is not kinked and there is no syphoning. Ensure that machine is filling and that both hot and cold inlet are working.

It seems that you have a manual type program controller in the washer ,Since you have bought it second hand, it is possible that the controller is faulty and is not contacting as required with the timer ticking on.
So this mechanical timer /contactor is faulty and the least that can be done is to use a contact spray to clean if not replacement is the only option.
But then the cost of a new unit may be high and your investment on an old unit may prove to be uneconomical.

Tips for a great answer:

You first of all need to
check the pump filter. This is
located at the bottom front right of washer. Look for a drop down flap or cover, once
located, unscrew filter anti-clockwise to remove and clean. Of course be prepared for a lot of water and
junk. The pump itself is directly behind
the filter housing, check there to see if anything is stuck in the plastic blades. It should turn freely. Your washer door will not open if there is
water in the washer, just some kind of precaution, so don't force the door.
