Question about Washing Machines

2 Answers

Hi there, I have just bought a 2nd hand Bosch 1400 WAA28160GB washer. It runs but it will not complete a full cycle. I have tried various programs but it seems to stop in different places. I have managed (somehow) to get is to wash, drain and spin by playing with the program dial over a period of about 2 hours but this was only by chance. I am capable of repairing it myself if you can identify the problem & advise the solution (instruction & spare parts requirement). Thank you ever so much.

    Thanks for the reply.
Could you please instruct how to access the manual controller?
Once I have access do I need to spray the contact spray in a specific way/orientation?
Please let me know how likely it is that this will fix it, thank you

    Thanks again,
To get to the multi switch behind the dial do I need to remove any panels or is it as simple as pulling the dial off and spraying?

  • michael_p75 Sep 27, 2010

    Thanks,
I will pull the dial off when I get home tonight and spray as instructed and confirm tomorrow how I get on.
    Thanks
    Again

    Hi there,
Last night I stripped the washer down and found that the biggest out of the three resistors in the lower centre of the main circuit board has burned out. The siemens board number is 5560004324 (EPW65001). Can I repair this, get it repaired or do I need a new board? If I need a new baord then can I buy off the shelf?
    Thanks again for your advice.

Hi.

Parts that can cause cycle hanging or stopping in different parts of the cycle are:

Door latch.

Pressure switch.

If those do not fix the problem, then the central control unit may need replacement.

The door latch can be tested by running a cycle with its contacts jumped. The pressure switch is more difficult to test. Try first cleaning the sensor and the tube attached to pressure switch, then replace the pressure switch.

Also ensure that drain lines are clean, check drain filter located behind the access door at the front lower side of the appliance. Check drain hose and ensure that is not kinked and there is no syphoning. Ensure that machine is filling and that both hot and cold inlet are working.

Here parts.

    Re:"manual controller?
Once I have access do I need to spray the contact spray"

There is no part technically called manual controller (I know you refer to the timer dial), and spraying contact cleaner is highly unlikely to fix the problem. Sure a dial stained with oxide is possible, but this is not a common fault, particularly considering that this appliance is about five years old.

If appliance hangs during the cycle, test starts from door lock, and then goes to pressure switch, thermostats, wiring, motor and finally CCU.

    Hi.

The board is usually replaced, rather than fixed at component level, if you have technical training, you can give it a try.

The board can be repaired at component levels by de-soldering and soldering back the broken resistors.
If the resistors value cannot be read (see the band code), that can be a problem.
Also if resistors were gone, more components may be faulty, and the whole board should be tested. Check if any of the capacitors looks bulged, or is leaking. When a capacitor fails, it commonly causes resistors and more components to blow.

    Here the part:PC Board.

    Here Cheaper: Module-control.

Please ensure that the board is matching full model number before purchasing. After WAA28160GB you should have /01,/04 etc. Last module is compatible with models WAA28160GB/01,/04,/09.

If you think this solution was helpful, then please do not forget to accept.

    Regards.

    Ginko.

It seems that you have a manual type program controller in the washer ,Since you have bought it second hand, it is possible that the controller is faulty and is not contacting as required with the timer ticking on.
So this mechanical timer /contactor is faulty and the least that can be done is to use a contact spray to clean if not replacement is the only option.
But then the cost of a new unit may be high and your investment on an old unit may prove to be uneconomical.

Spray behind the dial where you find the multi switch -- if this is the mechanical timer type.Spray with the power OFF, switch on to test.

Have to access behind the dial panel see how you can access from the top/bottom ,to just wash off the contacts.

check your detergent. You should only be using detergent that has the "he" symbol on the front of the bottle. It stands for high efficiency. Its made for washers that use less water so that it rinses completely. If you use regular detergent, suds will be left after the cycle is finished.

Hi, i have a bosch classixx5 washing machine(1400) , it's going through it's cycles until it tries to drain & then nothing, it won't drain... Please could you offer suggestions & s

You first of all need to check the pump filter. This is located at the bottom front right of washer. Look for a drop down flap or cover, once located, unscrew filter anti-clockwise to remove and clean. Of course be prepared for a lot of water and junk. The pump itself is directly behind the filter housing, check there to see if anything is stuck in the plastic blades. It should turn freely. Your washer door will not open if there is water in the washer, just some kind of precaution, so don't force the door.

Bosch washing machine spins but not dry enough when spun as if it is on 800 not 1400

This seems to be a common problem for Bosch WF02862. If the end result is not dry enough for you, you can try running an extra spin cycle. You can also try checking the machine if you can tweak its spin speed. Modern washers such as this model tend to have different spin levels.

My Bosch Dishwasher is not drying my dishes now. The model number is SHE44C05UC.

Hi there,

Unfortunately, it seems that the heating element has failed. The dishwasher uses steam to heat the tub to dry the dishes. I suspect your dishes are also being washed in cold water.

To check this, please run a regular full wash cycle. Allow the washer to fill with water and run for about 10 minutes, then open the door and feel the water temperature in the bottom of the washer. If the water is cold, it's more than likely the heating element has failed.

There are other possible faults which would cause the element not to heat, but these often prevent the dishwasher from completing the cycle. If the water is cold but the dishwasher still drains the water at the end - and completes the cycle - the heating element has probably failed.

Please try this simple test for water temperature and let me know if you need further assistance.

BElectric

My Bosch front end washing machine will not start a cycle. Door is closed tightly and when I push start/pause red light comes on & immediately goes off-this happens every time I push the start/pause...

My Bosch washer turns "on" and water runs but it does not spin or complete wash. I hear the machine "clicking" as if it is attempting to to function but no spin or full wash cycle.

Hi. I have a Bosch 1400 washing machine - it's 3 years old. It has just started not spinning when the drum is full. If I take about half of the wet laundry out it's fine. It doesn't seem to be unbalanced.

What is happening, is your capacitor is faulty. Remove screws holding the lid on to the machine, Lift off lid and with power being off, look for a typical white cylinder that has 2 wires connected to it. On it will read 16micro farad capacitor/ 440vplts etc. Remove it, take it to the parts store and ask for a replacement. Reinstall capacitor and then try running machine on the usual program. If all ok, switch off then replace lid and away you go. Do not continus to run motor as it is now.

Very annoying beep when finished programme

When the machine is on, but not running, press and hold the "pre-wash" button. After a few seconds it will begin that beep noise, keep holding it in until the beep volume goes down and finally stops completely (5-10 secs). Once the beep has stopped, release the button and voila, no more annoying beeps at the end of your cycle.

To restore the end of cycle notification (beep) do the same thing as described above, but release the button earlier while the beep is still going.
