The date and time are automatically recorded with every picture you take, and stored along with a lot of additional data. However, this data is stored in such a way as not to obscure any portion of the picture itself. If you want the date and/or time printed with the picture, you'll have to refer to the instructions for whatever program you're using to print the picture, or else tell us what program you're using.

Tip

Nikon Coolpix keep resetting Time and Date and menu settings.

Hi.

I am listing this tip for the Nikon Coolpix 995, but the tip is valid for all Nikon Coolpix models.

The Nikon cool pix settings are saved into an internal memory.

The internal memory is maintained by an internal rechargeable battery, that is recharged from the main Li-Ion battery.

If you leave your Nikon overnight with no main battery, or if the Li-Ion batteries have drained, then the internal battery will also drain , resetting the clock and other settings, saved on the internal memory. The camera may even drain in about 6 hours depending on the camera, normally it takes at least 12 hrs to drain the clock battery.

If the internal battery is resetting immediately, after you set the clock, or just after few minutes, then the clock battery must be replaced.

The camera must be disassembled completely to replace the battery located on one of the two main internal boards.

Nikon says that the clock battery loosing charge is normal. I quote what they say on the publication titled " The Nikon Guide to digital photography with Coolpix"

"Backup battery of the clock
The clock-calendar is powered by a separate rechargeable battery, which is charged as necessary when the main battery is installed. If the camera has been stored with the main battery removed for a long period of time, the clock may need to be reset. Once the main battery has been reinserted, the clock battery will recharge in several hours, during which time the main battery should be left in the camera."
Original file: Download here

If the clock does not work at all, and is resetting immediately, even though the Li-Ion batteries are fully charged, then the best thing to do is calling Nikon, at the number listed on the owners manual, telling them that you did not do any improper use of the camera, and trying to get the fault repaired as factory defect. That is not always possible, and the decision depends on Nikon customer service.

This is for a Nikon Cool Pix Model - Turn your camera on - press the menu button - down arrow to the little wrench picture (select left arrow to get to icons on left of screen) then click down to wrench .. date should be one of your choices click down to date - clik okay or right arrow .. date should appear right arrow and camera will walk you through setting date.

I like to have the date on my pix. However I see a tiny date at bottom right of screen and a larger date on top left of screen. I would like to have only the very small date at bottom right of screen...

Cathi - You didn't say which Nikon camera you have but in general the larger date (in white I believe) is only for the screen display. The smaller (orange) time-date on the bottom right is what will be saved on the Image and what will be seen when you look at the pictures in or out of the camera.

Thanks for using Fix Ya and have a nice day.

CoolpixS51 camera stuck on set time and date

Not 100% sure about this model, but most have another battery in the camera for the clock functions. That battery could be low.
Try looking in the manual for the clock battery and pull that and replace it. See if that helps.

How do i remove the date , time, 101nikon 1939 jpg on top of the

This will always be displayed in your camera. However to choose what will imprint on the pix :

Turn your dial to SETUP and select DATE IMPRINT. Then select OFF (nothing will imprint on pix), or DATE (for just the date to be imprinted), or DATE and TIME (for both time and date to be imprinted)
