Nikon D-80. LCD no longer shows image when taking pictures. It still shows the pictures that have been taken. Did I accidently shut it off? The battery is fully charged and the dark/light is set at 0.

Go under the Custom Settings Menu and number 06 Image Review, set this to "ON."

See the Manual: showing the picture actually shot is an option in the camera setting.

I have a d80.problem: lcd will not show anything. lcd will show previous taken pictures

Which is it? The LCD will not show anything, or it will show previously taken pictures? Does it show menus when you press the MENU button?
The D80's LCD will not show pictures before you take them. The LCD is for menus, shooting information, and reviewing pictures already taken. You must use the viewfinder for composing your pictures. The LiveView capability which lets you use the LCD for composing is a recent development in DSLRs. Nikon introduced it to their product line with the D3 and D300, released years after the D80.

Lcd screen: lighter images flash from normal to

You are probably viewing the preview screen in "Highlight" mode. To fix this, use the dial button at the back of the D80 and click up (or down) to see another depiction of the preview screen. It will show you different options until you can see the normal picture without the flashing highlights. Hope this helps.

I take a picture, it shows it on the display, but when i try to look at the picture it says "file contains no image..

Do you have a card in? That may be the problem or your cardreader is no longer working. It can be repaired. Contact Nikon on line at NIKONUSA.COM or you may contact an authorized service center. I know of one in Florida, 305-653-7355

D80 nikon LCD Monitor

If you can see the taken image in the monitor- fully lit- then the monitor is not faulty.
However you cannot get Menu's is that right?
Ths then would be a problem for the manufacturers support web site.
If the camera is no longer in Warranty my guess is that it would be cheaper or nearly so simply to replace it than a repair

Pictures won't show on screen

I have checked to see if I can simulate your problem on my D70.
There are no settings on the Set-up menu to turn off the display.
The display should show for a minimum of 6 seconds after a phot is taken.
You can reduce the screen brightness but that will not turn it completely black.
I presume you have eliminated all other possibilities by changing batteries, card, lens etc..
If so, it would suggest an LCD screen failure which would necessitate a repair by a Nikon agent.

You're not nuts. I saw a guy activate live view on the d80 while doing a demonstration on a Youtube tutorial. I just can't seem to find the video nor how to activate Live View on my camera. I think I'll try contacting Nikon directly

Nikon D50 LCD Display does not work

NatD, The D50 and indeed most SLR digital cameras [ I have a D40 ] does not allow you to take pictures using the LCD display ... this is by design, you are meant to use the viewfinder and the image you see through it is straight through the lens via a mirror block [ called a reflex pentamirror or prism ]. When the mirror is down such that you can see the image in the viewfinder it is obscuring the sensor [ the bit that takes the picture ] and when you take a shot the mirror lifts and the picture is recorded. Its this reason that DSLR's dont use the LCD to shoot, however there are a few now available that do let you do this, such as olympus, new panasonic one and higher end Nikon and Canon cameras. Hope this explains it without getting too detailed!

LCD blank & No picture taken

This appears to be a well known CCD problem, which Nikon acknowledges only for the COOLPIX 3100, 5700 and SQ models. Nikon denies the CCD problems on the 5400 are related, even though a Google search for this problem returns numerous results which claim the same defective Sony CCD sensor was used in the 5400 as was used in the 3100, 5700, and SQ models.
