How do we set the outside temp?

since this question is very non specific i.e., no brand name, model or serial numbers, I can only assume that this is the type of unit that monitor the outdoor temp and does not require any settings. If you need more info, please include more details. Thanks.

Outdoor temp doesn't show on my LaCrosse 8349

try changing channels on all sensors and the receiver.. You will have to go through a wait time as before. This worked for me last year, but mine eventually failed completely this year

Radio Shack 63-1090 indoor/outdoor temperature unit. Won't give outdoor readings. Temps are cold, -5F but it always worked before. Put in new batteries in the inside and outside units, wiped outdoor sensor...

According to instructions for similar systems, you have to replace batteries in the outdoor unit first, then the indoor unit and wait 10 minutes without pressing any buttons for the indoor unit to begin displaying the outdoor temperature.

My oregon scientific indoor outdoor weather station with atomic clock just stopped picking up the outdoor readings, it won't switch to that channel any longer. tried removing and reinstalling the battery,...

I had the same problem, Since the outside temp wouldn't read, I figured it was the outside unit batteries. Went through half a dozen AAA batteries and wouldn't read. It was the indoor unit. Had the same bats I installed 3 years ago. DUH! Replaced the AAA, and all was well. When the inside batteries die out, it has just enough juice to read indoor temp, but not enought to sense exterior signal.

Outdoor A/C unit fan

If the fan and compressor are shutting off. its possible its cycling on a low pressure switch. probably low on freon.

or you have a low ambient kit to keep pressures up during low outdoor temps while ac is running just the fan will shut off, however thats not a typical thing to have a residential system

Indoor unit temperature between 60F & 70F after R22 charge..

The pressure changes with temperature, it is not a true gauge to ensure a proper charge.

You should have a 15 to 20 degree temp drop across the evap coil. (return air vs supply air)

Can you verify that the compressor is running?
Not the condenser, but the compressor located inside the condenser (outdoor unit)

it really sounds like it is still undercharged.
Check the temp drop, let me know what it is.
Also tell me what the outdoor ambient temp is.

( for example.... 98 degree outdoors with 85 degree indoor temp could result in pressures something like 325 on the high side and 75 or 80 on the low side.
With the exact same unit, but 80 degree outdoor temp combined with 70 degree indoor temp, your pressures could read 215 low side and 55 low side. Not to mention that more efficient units often have higher pressures on the low side because they have more coil space and remove heat more efficiently)

I replaced a compressor today filled everything properly.also replaced the capacitor and the contactor. the compressor is getting really hot and it keeps tripping the breaker. do you think its a bad...

I have some question:

1. Is the location of your outdoor unit have no any obstruction? Means that air out of the outdoor is not short cycling into the air in.
2. Did you check the current reading during start up of the unit? Is it like the name plate current reading?
3. Did you check your voltage reading in your unit during operation? It should be plus or minus 10 percent in the unit voltage rating.
4. Are all of your terminal clips and terminals are tight.

During unit operation you should get the fallowing data. So that we can know what really is the problem.

Suction press-
Disc. press-
current reading (actual)-
current reading (name plate)-
Voltage reading (during operation)-
outdoor air out temp.-
outdoor air in temp.-
Ambient temp.-
