Question about Panasonic Cameras

How do I move movie footage from a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT1 memory card to computer? I can only get photos off the card and I have no memory left to take more photos.

Are you saying that the video (motion picture) footage will not transfer to the PC because there is insufficient memory? I can't understand this. I have had this problem before with the camera and a relative used some sort of software to remove the motion picture footage to PC. The still photos will transfer but not the motion pictures. If I have an Intel Pentium IV processor shouldn't I have enough memory? How do I find out?

I just realised I don't think you understood my question. The MEMORY CARD, not the computer, or camera, is full, and this is why I want to transfer its contents to PC. But I can only move still images, not motion pictures to PC. The rest are still on the memory card. Has it been moved but I need particular software to view it? I used the playback function and it seems the footage is still on the memory card.

No card reader, but I have worked it out. VLC Media Player enables you to read video files. Windows Media player will not play Panaonic Lumix motion pictures. The videos copy from the camera to the PC in a "private" directory of the one just inside the one with the four letters (can't remember what it's called) and you have to open them with this software to look at them. Thanks for your help. I haven't tried flash player or quick time yet.

The same way as you are transfering photos the whole memory data can be stored . If your PC is full you will need to write off the memory to free space, or use an additonal disk drive to store up the data. Make sure that unwanted files are cleared out and important ones are written to cd's or hard disks for later use than to keep them in the PC.
This way you will have more space left in your PC which is most needed.

Do you have a card reader on your PC,? if so the memory card can be inserted and all files copied into a folder. Now use any of the media players , i f not try with flash player, quick time ...on the video files.

Well, obviously you're going to need to get the card out so pull it out using a pair of needle-nosed pliers. If this causes some sort of problem, the problem was there anyway. When you get it out, don't try to reinsert it....just get a new card.

Did you shoot the movies in AVCHD Lite? Most computers, especially Macs can't use it. However, if you use Toast 10 Titanium, it will burn it to a DVD.

Video footage not saved to disk

Sounds like you took the video using AVCHD Lite. It's actually in a hidden folder on the memory card. Most computer will not recognize it. Recommend you don't use it anymore. Use Motion jpeg instead. Takes more space but looks just as good.

Are you formatting the card in the camera as you're supposed to? Have you tried going into the menu and finding "reset" and followed the on-screen instructions? Do you have photos on the internal memory? If so, remove your card and format the camera to erase the memory.

Panasonic DMC-FT1 can't upload movies

Easier solution. Your record setting are on AVCHD best for playing HD on TV. set your camera to HD JPEG and you can watch it on your PC and save it aswell through software provided. Also if you want to save recording that are already on AVCHD just conect to a DVD recorder and record it to DVD or use free software like Media Classic but I prefer not to add too many media software products as they can cause conflits and more problems
