Question about Samsung Refrigerators

1 Answer

I've had a Samsung fridge for 6-7 years, it's a small/medium fridge/freezer with the freezer at the top (sorry, don;t have the size handy). The freezer works fine, however the fridge no longer makes things as cold as it should. Even on the coldest setting, things are at best lightly chilled. What are the most likely causes and how do I go about fixing them? Thanks!! Derek

Most refrigerators get their cooling from the freezer. I suggest that you give it some time, and make sure the small door or damper leading from the freezer to the fridge is open and not obstructed by any food items

Has it sat any amount of time without usage? Check and see if any of the 4 walls is cool, it could be that the fan isnt working.

The digital display on my rs2555sl Samsung stopped working and the fridge and freezer are not cooling. The fridge is only 4 years old. what could the problem be?

circuit board controling temp to both fridge and freezer is out. Could have been fried by an electrical surge or just a badcircuit board.

Sorry

My compact fridge does not defrost and ice builds up in freezer section. How can I disconnect the freezer and not use it?

Lynne, the freezer section is what provides the cooling for the fridge, so there is no way to disconnect the freezer and still be able to have the fridge operate.

With the small compact fridges, the only thing you can do is to manually defrost the unit, when the ice buildup gets too much, which can vary, based on how you use your fridge, how often it gets opened and closed, etc.

Some compact fridge models have a small push button in the center of the temperature setting control knob - if your's has one, you can push that to initiate a self defrost cycle. However, you'll need to have some towels handy to collect the water that will result from melting off the freezer section.

There are not many small, compact fridge units that have the no-frost feature of full sized fridges, as it is more costly to build in all the needed components required to have frost-free operation. Not to mention the size of the fridge gets much larger, because of all the space needed to house those features (defrost heaters, electronic controls, ciruculating fans, control vents, sensors, drip/drain pan, etc., etc.)

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Hissing freezer

Hi criago

I am very sorry to say that you have pierced the coolant tubing, the hiss you here is the coolant gas escaping. Your Fridge Freezer may be unrepairable because it is very hard to get into the area concerned.
Sorry to break the news to you.

Small fridge

Empty the fridge freezer and defrost completely (suggest overnight). The freezer section has a coil behind the back wall normally and what you have described is a frozen coil. Then restart the system. If the thermostat or temporary fault was the reason then this should cure it. If your problem reoccurs within three weeks then you might have a defrost problem. If you do have a problem then make sure you get straight back to where you bought it from as soon as possible a you should not be charged. Hope this is of some help.
