How to install cartridges for hp deskjet 2542 printer

Barb, you need to read the owner's manual. HP's support site will allow you to download it as a pdf file, if you've misplaced it. Just insert the product model number and name and download the pdf file. Here's the hyperlink for you: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/drivers.html

Printer HP 1315 shows "Door Open" and does not respond to printing call

This is a more common occurrence than you might expect. The "door" referred to in the error message is actually the portion of your machine that must be lifted up in order to gain access to the ink cartridges for replacing them. You will notice that a protrusion on the lower side of the "door" surface fits into an opening in the surface below the door when the door closes, and this contacts with the door status switch to close the contacts on the switch, telling the machine that the "door" is closed. If indeed the door is fully closed, with nothing obstructing the switch from performing, then that would indicate that either the switch is defective or has come loose. After replacing cartridges, the "door" must be fully closed or you will see the error message. For troubleshooting procedures to solve this problem, go to this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00829896

A test print page may show distorted characters at the beginning, but the characters should be shown correctly towards the end of the test page. If this is not the case then I would suspect that at least one of your cartridges is not seated properly. Open the cartridge access "door," and check the cartridge positions. When you remove and replace a cartridge, the new cartridge should be pushed back as far as it will go and then the front end of the cartridge lifted until you hear it snap into place. When seated properly, the top of the cartridge will be level.

My printer dont want to print

The error 1203 error message on the operator panel could indicate a problem with one of the ink cartridges. Please follow the steps given below:

1. Please make sure the All-In-One is powered on.
2. Pull the control panel towards you, and then open the cartridge access door. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position.
3. Pull the old cartridges towards you, and then lift them out.
4. With the cartridges out of the printer, shut the access door and the control panel.
5. Power the printer OFF and then back ON.
6. Please check the operator panel to see if the same error has returned or if a new message has appeared.
7. If the message displayed is 1203, there is something wrong with the printer hardware.
If the message now displaying is Cartridge Missing, do the following:

1. Reinstall the cartridges into the printer.
2. Insert the color cartridge in the left carrier. Insert the black cartridge in the right carrier.
3. Push back firmly on the cartridges until they snap securely into place.
4. Close the cartridge access door, and then close the control panel.
5. If the 1203 message is still present on the operator panel, you need to insert one cartridge at a time to determine which cartridge is producing the failure.
6. With one cartridge in the carrier, close the access door and control panel.
7. Please check the operator panel. If the 1203 error is displayed, this cartridge is the defective item. If the Cartridge Missing message is displayed, the second cartridge is producing the failure.
8. Please replace the defective cartridge.

You can't. Cartridges have a date bomb built in, they may be expired.

Officejet d135 - "Supply Expired" error message

HP, in order to sell more ink, monitors the expiration date of the cartridges installed. Solution is either to buy a new unexpired cartridge from HP or to disable the date monitoring built in to the printer. This latter is done by removing the button cell located inside the D135 printer on the left hand side or by simply slipping a thin piece of plastic between button cell and metal contact. You will no longer have date function on printer, but it won't object to expired cartridges either.

Refilled ink cartridges

The reason why the printer says supply expired because the ink cartridge has its own warranty. When the warranty of the ink cartridge has expired then you will get that message. Eventhough you refill it. You need to replace the ink cartridge itself.
