A computer will not start/power up via the software control on/off switch, you will need to reset the power supply controller circuit by completely removing the power plug from the AC main for a couple minutes and then replug the desktop. Incidentally for a Laptop, you additionally need to remove the battery pack.
If your computer gets power and it does not BOOT-UP, then the media you have chosen does not have a valid bootable section or operating system make sure that any external media (e.g. SD card or USB memory stick or USB externa drive) is not plug in as the system will normally attempt from the externally media first.
Hope it helps: let me know how you go.

Tip

Computer freezes, computer stuck

There could be a number of causes for a computer freezing up, or not responding all together.

-If your computer frequently freezes up, lags, or is slow, this could be because of poor performance. At some point in the future after a computer is purchased, the hardware will be to old for it to handle newer programs. In a lot of cases you will need to purchase a new computer or upgrade the processor, memory, hard drive and motherboard. This usually is not needed for a number of years. There are a number of programs you can use to monitor your computer performance. I would recommend starting off with task manager which is built into Microsoft Windows.

To use task manager, press Ctrl + alt + delete on your keyboard. Task manager should open up. In task manager go to the performance tab. In this tab, you can see various computer statistics. I recommend you have this open around the time you experience poor computer performance or hang ups.

-Another possible cause is the computer is overheating. Overheating can be caused by having a computer in a poor ventilated space. It can also be caused by internal computer fans that have stopped working. Some computers will have a auto shut down when temperatures get to high.

Make sure your computer is a ventilated room with good air flow.

If computer fans are no longer working, make sure the fan cables are plugged firmly into the motherboard. You will have to turn the computer off, open up the computer to do this. Make sure you have no static on yourself or you could damage the computer. Touch something metal before doing this or use a anti-static mat/wrist strap.

You can use a program called SpeedFan to monitor computer temperatures.

-Sometimes after you install software, new updates or new device drivers this can cause software bugs that will crash the computer, cause it to freeze up or not properly boot. If this is the case, you will want to uninstall the software you installed before the problem started. If you are unable to do this, you can boot your computer into safe mode and use System Restore which will restore the computer to a earlier working state.

To check updates and uninstall them in Windows, you can go to Add and Remove programs through Control Panel.
You can uninstall device drivers by going to Device Manager through Control Panel.

To perform a System Restore, go to Start > programs > Accessories or System tools > System Restore. Choose a restore point before the problem started.

If you are unable to boot into windows all the way, then you can boot into safe mode to work on the problem. Safe Mode will basically only load the necessary files needed for Windows to operate. While the computer is booting, keep pressing F8(make sure to do this before the windows screen shows) and you should get a menu. Choose Safe Mode. Once your computer boots into windows you can perform the steps above.

-G33k

Hi computer starts up then cuts of then comes back on any idea

1. Check that all the cooling fans are working well as overheating may cause this.
2. Problem may also be caused by a hardware malfunction, a convenient starting point is to try another memory, hard disk drive.
3. Reinstall operating system

Your problem is a little hard to say. Have there been any power outtages or has you computer been powered-off rather than the regular shut-down procedure. Windows registry and programs can be thus corrupted.

Also computer viruses can disrupt programs so please run for example
Mcafee's free online anti-virus to rule-out a virus problem.
http://us.mcafee.com/root/campaign.asp?cid=45694

Even if you have an anti-virus installed, it needs to be running the latest virus definitions.

You could also try in programs accesories system tools to select "system restore" and bring back your computer to a date where you understand the problem was not happening. (Try this one last)

you place the sd-card just at the right side of the sim-card

Are they plugged in the right direction? Sometimes those card readers won't let you know that you plugged that card in wrong.
