Rangi It sounds like its a charger problem rather than a battery problem but if the charger is not working then you'll end up with battery problems too. Vicious circle huh? Try to locate a friend or someone with a scooter or power chair that has an off-board charger and borrow it for a few hours. Charge your scooter with it and see if all the lights are lit up on your scooter's battery level gauge. if they are then you'll have to locate another charger. You can see if your local provider has an extra they will sell you or have them order you a good 3 or 4 amp off-board charger with an on/off switch. Hope this helps you

My scooter will not fully charge

This could be the charger socket is worn and not making a good connection when charging or it could be the charger itself at fault. Now you have changed the batteries, I presume new and both the same type, you need to look at the charging side.

Not charging flat batteries

hi, most mobility scooter charges will not attempt to charge below 10 volts,

the trick is to use a car battery charger to bring the voltage past 10 volts then you use the mobility scooter charger to fully charge.

However please be aware of a couple of points:

1. Car chargers will damage mobility scooter batteries.

2. Once a Gel or AGM battery voltage has dropped below 10 volts they may never fully hold the charge again if they do recover and that's a big if.

Robin

Yvonne,

When you say that you put in a new battery, I hope you mean new batteries. This particular scooter takes 2 batteries and just changing one will leave the remaining one in poor condition. Make sure that you have replaced the batteries with the correct size and type. This scooter takes 2, 40 amp hour batteries. Sealed gel AGM batteries are preferred. The batteries should have the number 40 on them with a date code. You need new, fresh batteries to have them work properly. A date code tag of A1 indicates the A month(1st month) or January of 2011 (1 is for 2011). If you are not sure of the battery condition a local shop can load test them for you.
There is a possibility with a 5 year old scooter that a worn motor/brake will cause excessive current draw and drain your batteries. A qualified technician can determine this for you with a service call.
Hope this helps.

My sons razor e200 dies quickly. I have changed the batteries, brought a new charger. I have checked the connectors and the tires are not flat The light is green but after 25 yds, turns and says needs to...

Problem is not the batteries then. Replace the controller. The controller could be resisting some of the charging current to the battery.

But first try this:

Charger the scooter with it OFF

Directly connect the charger to the battery

If still the same problem then:

Directly connect the charger to the battery then,
connect the motor leads directly to the battery and see how long it runs. It with new the batteries it should run longer than a minute. If it does than something is definitively wrong with the controller.

My Scooter (Fisher & Paykel - Columbus) Will not charge

Hi. These machines will not charge themselves if the batteries are too flat. The charging system is run by the micro processor IC in the scooter. If the battery voltage is too low the the IC will not have enough voltage to operate.
Remove the batteries from the machine and charge in parallel on a 12 volt charger. Once they are charged, put them back in the machine, and try the scooter on charge again.
Good luck. Neil.

Hiya I have brought an E-Scooter V8 from ebay seller, I don't know how to use it do you need to turn it on to charge it can some explain in a fools guide how to use it thanks loads

1. get out the massive charge box you will need to plug it in the port on the side of the bike you will see a green light, then plug the charger in and turn it on the light should go red to show that it is charging, once it is charge 4 to 5 hours green light should appear, then unplug the recharger.
2. Then to get the scooter to go get the key put it in the key thing and switch it to on. The throtle is on the right hand side twist and scooter will move (note only to that once you on the scooter :P)
3. The breaks pretty easy i belive so i wont explain it
4. control pannel the L and R turn on the left and right indicator
the black button is the novelty horn
the little red switch is for the headlight

Batterys will not hold charge

Hi kevinsharpe8;

Right off the top of my head I would suspect the charging circuit. The way to check this is to measure the voltage at the batteries while they are on charge. The voltage reading when they are supposed to be charging should be higher that what you would read at the batteries when they are not charging.

These charging circuits are not complicated and any electrician type should be able to trouble shoot the circuit and find the problem

Hope this helps Good Luck Loringh PS Please leave a rating if appropriate thanks
