if you toner is empty replace it. if you replaced it and it still say emty do the following
you will go in service mode.
look for ignore toner put it on. if it still not working open the fax take out the cartridge. you will see ontop of the cardrige is a fuse. put a new on in put cartrige back. close the door for 5 sec. and take cartrigde out and remove the fuse. it should work then.
If the Toner Low/Empty message does not automatically clear when a new cartridge is installed, use the following to clear the message manually:
1.Press MENU # 1 9 3 4. The machine should display TECH. 2.Press MENU, and ENTER. The machine should display TECH Mode. 3.Press the left arrow < once. The machine will show NEW CARTRIDGE. 4.Press ENTER, the machine will show YES. 5.Press ENTER, there should not be any Toner Low/Empty message. 6.Exit TECH MODE, press MENU # 1 9 3 4. The machine will no longer display TECH.
If Toner Low/Empty message continues, there may be a problem with the toner cartridge or the machine.
I have a feeling that it is a re-manufactured or compatible cartridge?? There is a fuse that needs to be replaced on this unit. it blows when the cartridge is installed to reset the machine. If the fuse has not been replaced or is defective the machine will not recognize the new unit.

1-remove power from fax. 2-clean contact points in toner cartidge and the contact in fax which it make contact together. 3-knock above toner cartidge many times. 4-move it in horizontal direction from left to right many times.
The way that cartridge works is by a fuse. When you first install it the printer calibrates itself to the new cartridge and blows the fuse.
look for a blown fuse in your fax. A lot of times you can buy replacement fuses at a local electronic or hardware store and they're easy to replace.
Anyway, if the printer senses an improper toner/developer balance it will default to XXXX copies and give you the message. You can to reset the machine - this might help.
