This is due to a power issue. Try a reset of the camera. Your camera may have a reset button. If present, try pressing that. If not, try a hard reset:
Remove the batteries from the camera, also any SD Card that may be there. Wait about 2 minutes, reinsert the batteries and SD card and power on and see if the issue persists (you may want to use fresh batteries as well..)

If the issue still persists, then I'm afraid you may have to take it in for servicing, or contact Sony support. I believe they have a provision for live chat. You can find chat here:
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/support-contacts.pl?mdl=DSCT9

Scroll to "Cameras, Camcorders and Digital Imaging Products" and click on the chat button.

Or you can call them:

I know this sounds crazy but if its a zoom error the lens is stuck... Whack it on a table slightly see if it free's the lens up. I'm serious... not too hard though.

Hi,

Sony Error Code 62.10 indicates power problem and could be the battery, internal memory battery or AC adapter. Try checking aforementioned items and/or try a manual reset.
1. Turn off the camera.
2. Ensure the camera is not connected to an AC power adapter.
3. Remove the battery from the camera for 15 seconds.
4. Reinsert the battery.
5. Turn on the camera.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

In some instances, it could be that the battery terminals are corroded to the point that the batteries are no longer making good contact. The same could also hold true with the memory stich contacts.

SOURCE: Sony Cyber-shot Error Code E:61:00

Hi,

you may have these symptoms,
Symptoms :

  1. After pressing the power button in capture mode, the lens would extend and a slight humming from what appeared to be the auto focus motor could be heard for about 5 seconds. When the motor stopped humming, the camera would beep and display E:61:00 in the LCD Screen.
  2. Camera would extend the lens but not be able to focus on anything past 8 inches or so.
  3. Zoom in and zoom out would not work.
  4. Playback mode and the Setup mode was not affected.

To fix this problem,

Do these...

A) Put the camera about a half inch from a hard surface.
B) Let the lense go out and hit the surface and retract a little bit. Let it go out all the way when it tries the next time.

If that doesnt fix it, try this:
A) Turn it on and let the lense go out fully
B) See where the lens comes out of the camera? The little round crack that surrounds it? Wiggle the lense a bit and blow in there a bit. (Be sure not to blow on the lense!)

Now turn it off/on again, and it should be fixed!

If not, try these steps a few more times. If still nothing, then I suggest you to call Sony, but this DID work for 90%, so hopefully it''ll work for you :)

Thanx for using fixya,
Cheers.

You should be able to plug in the USB cord that came with the camera. Connect the one end to the camera then the other end to a USB wall charger or your computer. If you no longer have the USB cable, you can purchase one here from Amazon.
