iOS 6 is possible only on iPod touch 4th generation and newer
- There are two ways to update the iOS version of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch - via connecting the device to iTunes on a computer
- or directly from within the device, but only since iOS 5, it is possible to update the iOS version without the need to connect the iOS device to a computer (over-the-air update)
just go to: settings - general - software update
press and hold down the home and sleep button until the apple logo appears on the screen..
this will reset the phone and any small firmware glitches that could be causing this problem.
if that doesn't then you will probably have to try upgrading the software on your phone..i believe in the 2.2.1 versions this is a very common fault and by upgrading it fixes this glitch..
also another very common cause is that the screen protector on the phone is installed incorrectly cause the screen to detect a multiple of touches making it freeze up and non-responsive..to fix this you will have to take it to a phone repairer and they will re-align it...
Itmaybe a battery problem...if you think its not a battery problem, you may want to try a software upgrade/restore...if your software version is already the latest one, backup all the ipod contents before you restore...you will find the restore option in the summary tab in itunes.
mine did the same thing. plug it into the computer. when it's open in iTunes, set the iPod to manual. sometimes when it's automatic, it'll clear itself out/freeze up until you plug it in again. this worked for me. it could be a glich, or their way of getting us to go onto iTunes more often.
Hey Dennis A, According to information provided by the manufacturer, the "software upgrades" that are included with specific 16GB iPod Touch models are part of Apple's January software upgrade. The upgrade provides e-mail functionality, access to Google maps, weather forecasts, stock market tracking and a notepad program for the iPod Touch. Apart from this slight change in pre-installed software, there should not be any other difference between the two 16GB iPod Touch models available through your local Best Buy™ store - they have identical hardware specifications. Please keep in mind that a product's model number may change slightly whenever a minor cosmetic or major software update occurs. In this particular case, the model number MA627LL/A was superseded with model number MA627LL/B to reflect the changes in the factory-installed programs. Both models are considered to be the same generation of hardware. If you would like more information about this software upgrade, I would strongly suggest checking out the following link: http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2008/01/15touch.html Hope this helps you out.
