Question about HP LaserJet 5550 Printer

Trouble with duplex printing

I'm having trouble whenever I need to print a duplex inDesign document. The computer sends it to the printer with no problem at all, the printer then shows "PROCESSING JOB" and prints just part of the document. If it's a two-page document, it prints the first page but not the second and it acts as if the job was fully done. If I then check the print history on the computer, it says Status Completed.  If I try to print only the second page, the computer sends it to the printer, it says "PROCESSING JOB" and nothing happens. If I remove all the images from the indesign page and start loading them back one by one and printing a copy every time an image is loaded, then it prints (but I have to repeat the procedure every time I print that page). I don't know what else to do! The printer has 512MB memory and there is nothing wrong with inDesign because this problem happens with any file and it wasn't doing it before. Could you please help?
Many thanks, Roberta Walker

I think your problem is that the 5550 supports manual duplex printing. Print every other page then feed them through again. Never tried it though. Dave Reed

How may i print for Both Side Printing?

Hi,

Both side printing depends on the printer. It's a feature which require a hardware in the printer known as Duplexer. Which automatically turns the paper and prints on the other side. Some printer may not come with duplexer but if they support duplex printing, you can but the duplexer for the specific printer and attach it at the back of the printer.

If your printer supports duplex printing, when you click on print, click print preferences as shown in the fig 1 below.

Click on finishing tab >> put a check on Print on both sides under document optoins section

Click Ok to close the preferences window

Click Ok to send the print job to the printer

Below is the series of images showing how to connect a duplexer.

Refilled ink cartridge now having trouble printing

Most of these new cartridges have what is called a "smart chip" which sends a signal when its low, and most times re-filling them won't reset it. there are resetting software tools available depending upon the cartridge number. Good Luck

I'm having problems with apostrophes in indesign..they won't type...it would type that ?

The problem often comes down to the printer substituting its own built-in fonts for the ones you specified in your document, and having a little trouble with the substitution. To force the printer to use the robust fonts on your computer instead of its own 90-pound weakling versions, make sure that the “Download PPD Fonts” checkbox is selected in the Graphics pane of the Print dialog box.

I can't print to my printer from MS Office 2007 . I have done all the trouble shooting and my computer detects the printer, prints a test page, etc. When I send a Word document, it shows it being sent to...

Hi, please make sure the brother printer is selected before pressing print.

Now goto Wordpad , can you print from there ? if yes then there might be a problem with the office install but most likely the wrong printer selected , if there was a issue with the driver or printer the test print would not work, make sure that you don't have dupilcate printers.

Thank you for your consideration.

Go to indesign. Under print options, go to output and select Greyscale instead of RGB. This takes acre of outputs from Indesign. I think the problem arises from the printer trying to interpret the colors.....

Problems with Kyocera Mita FS-1920

Make sure that your paper sizes match in the control panel of the printer in Windows. It will not only cause the duplex not to work but could cause jamming problems as well. When printing in duplex mode, make sure it is turned on.

Duplex printing problem

you will need to make sure that the printer software is set to align top-top or top-bottom. You will need to set this within the printer dialog set up.
