I presume you have basic video on your laptop
google your local dell site ie US Europe go to support > drivers > put in the Tag number from the bottom of the computer this will then find all the programs loaded to that particular laptop > scroll down till you find the tab Video > download the files and run them while your there download the latest BIOS as well Once up and running go to MyComputer right click > Manage > Device Manger > if you see any yellow triangles go back to dell and down load those drivers

Sometime the hardware is different from the manufacturers original equipment.
Try restoring to a previous date if available. If not:
Go to All programs, Accessories, System Tools, System information, and see what the video hardware is.
Look for the display type, and then go get your driver.
