Question about Whirlpool Washing Machines

1 Answer

Heavy duty Series 8 Commercial Top loading washing machine

Intermiitent problem whereby machine will sometimes not spin. This is irrespective of the size of load. I have years of technical experience and am an electrician. With a PA34 4XA postcode you will see why getting one of your engineers in maybe a problem. Is there any particular fault that can cause such an intermittent fault? It only occurs about one in 10 washes.
All wiring terminals have been checked and visual inspection of wiring loom.

You're spot on. The machine sits on an unstable floor in a shed so the problem will be compounded. Many thanks from the North West coast of Scotland

The connection to focus on are your un balanced sensors. If you can ,replace them, make extra sure your harness contacts are all touching. My belief is the design of this machine is filled with so many mistakes. Its to bad that we are gambling every time we make a purchase ,what ever happened to quality control.

Sometimes it spins sometimes it doesn't had a problem this morning with a king size quilt, it came out soaking so I tried to spin it again & its still wet, I put in another load & then it...

Duvets/quilts are very heavy when wet, causing a very unbalanced load. If the machine could spin such a large uncentred (UK spelling!) mass it would shake itself to pieces, so all modern domestic washing machines have unbalanced load detection systems. In use these systems will vary the drum rotation to try and get the load evenly distributed before going into full spin, but if they can't then no spin occurs.

Very few domestic washing machines can take a duvet or quilt (certainly no front loader which I'm aware of, and only a few top loaders), and those which can fit them in are usually overloaded. There's nothing wrong with your machine, you just need to use a commercial launderette machine to wash and spin your duvet/quilts in future.

Hswf 147 hoover washing machine wont spin

Not spinning at all can sometimes be caused by a blocked filter or drain pipe. Does your machine spin if you turn the dial to the spin only setting? Ours has developed a fault whereby it won't spin at the end of a normal cycle, but if I turn the dial to 'off' then to 'spin only', it will spin.

Burning smell

Hi just read your posting. Now in my experience on your model of machine when you get a burning smell it is usually the pump. When the machine is draining the water and goes to spin do you get a burning smell then? Please try to look underneath the machine to the front right. You will should see the pump with a red or black fan attached to it.See if has any evidence of corrosion or leaking. Please reply with additional information and I can guide you throe rectifying this fault.

My MAV8600AWW top load washer makes a loud steady squeal whining noise in spin cycle. Load size doesn't affect noise. Machine is 7 years old. Any guess as to problem?

Maytag had problems with the berrings on the transmission . water gets in and the berring goes bad rorring as it spins. Dump it and get a Whirlpool.

Shows "LE" in display.

Machine has a bad motor or "stator" on this machine. It is a direct drive winding on the back of the machine. Remove the back panel, the one bolt removes the rotor then you will see the stator winding, replace it and your good to go.
