First, check if any of the vents are clogged with dust. If not, try another lamp. They don't always look bad when they are bad. If you feel handy, by the lamp itself without the cage and swap in the new lamp. Make sure you do not touch the new lamp (finger oil is bad for the lamp. The oil creates a hot spot and early failure).

Some say you can reset the timer in the service menu, normally accessed by holding down the menu button on the TV and the mute button on your remote at the same time. Others say you need a special "service remote" to access the timer. I've changed my bulb twice already and have just learned to ignore the amber lamp timer light. A little square of black electricians tape would make it go away!

My Sony KF50XBR800 2002 model goes into Stand By mode after being on for about 30-60 seconds, the stand by light flashes in irregular sequences of 5-more then 10 flashes, (don't know what that means)....

Replacement lamps do not last long. Unless it is the Sony MFG lamp, they only last about a year or so with normal use. Otherwise, the only other suggestion I could give you would be to replace the ballast. Not to expensive either, 40-50. hope this helps as well

Exactly what is the function of AF lamp for the E-1600TP

The camera's autofocus system needs light in able to acquire focus. If there isn't enough light, this lamp lights up to throw some light onto the subject. It doesn't always work, for example if the subject is too far away. But if you're taking pictures at an indoor party, say, then the additional light allows the camera to focus on the subject.

When I press the shuuter button down my D80 flashes a bright light. I have tried switching the modelling flash function to off, however this has not solved the problem?

That's called an "autofocus assist lamp". When you prepare to take a picture in low light, the autofocus can struggle to lock on to your subject. The lamp you talk about, illuminates the subject for a moment, so that the autofocus can 'see' when correct focus has been achieved.

It is indeed annoying, but this is the price you pay for sharp photos (it's not possible to wait for the flash to go off, and focus in that moment). One 'solution' would be to turn the focus assist lamp off and live with the poor results. Another 'solution' would be to switch to manual focus. Or you could let the camera focus normally once, apologise to your subject, turn the focus to manual without changing it, and then taking more pictures without the annoyance (but you might have got a good picture the first time, anyway).

My hitachi tv went out a few days ago and it shows it needs a new lamp how do i know the model or what lamp to get?

The model indicated here does not use a lamp. Model number will be clearly marked on back of set on a label along with year the set was made.

Presuming it another model that uses a lamp, with model number use your computer and Google the model number with the word lamp and you will find dozens of places that sell them; compare warranty and price before you buy.

The sets that use a lamp are designed for the lamp to be "customer replaceable" and usual life on a lamp is about 2,000 hours of total use, some last longer and some less.

If you have questions let me know here.

Hi, Don't know how to obtain clear close up of small subject

Mount your camera on a tripod. Set it for "macro" mode. Turn off the flash. Light the jewelry with lamps (like worklight reflector clip on lamps) fitted with daylight balanced compact flourescent bulbs. Use poster paper of various colors for background. Set your ISO to 400. Set your white balance to "auto white balance". Have fun!

How to get manual focus on Olympus Camedia C-750 ultra zoom digital camera

TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTITf correct focus cannot be obtained
When the subject to be focused is not on the AF target mark (not positioned
in the center of the composition), you can use the following steps to obtain the
correct focus on the subject. This operation is referred to as "focus lock".
Determine the position of the subject after focusing (Focus Lock)
1 Press the power switch.
• The camera turns on in the shooting
• The lens extends and the monitor turns
• The orange lamp lights.
2 Turn the mode dial and select a
shooting mode.
"Shooting mode" (P.36)
3 Position the AF target mark on
the subject you want to focus on.
• When shooting a hard-to-focus
subject, point the camera at an object
about the same distance away as the
Press the shutter button halfway
until the green lamp lights.
• When the green lamp lights steadily,
the focus and the exposure are locked.
• When the green lamp blinks, the focus
and exposure are not locked. Release
your finger from the shutter button, reposition
your subject and press the
shutter button halfway again.
5 Keeping the shutter button
pressed halfway, recompose
your shot.
6 Press the shutter button fully.
Try the above, info from D-535, C-370 and X-450.
I can email you the complete manual if this works.

2006 42'' Samsung rear projection, Balist????

A Ballast is a circuit that provides voltage to Lamp. Ballasts are only used with TV's with a Lamp. According to your model number this unit does not use a lamp. That model number uses 3 rear-projected CRTs. The most common units with a ballast would be a DLP HDTV.

The Model number you specified HCN4226W is a unit made in 2003. However you stated in your subject line that this was a Samsung unit from 2006. Please verify your model number.
