My number pad on my keyboard always adds a + sign after I type a decimal point. If I don't go back and delete the + it causes my entry's into things like Excel and SPSS to calculate 2.5E6 when I type in 25.6. Does anyone know how to fix this?

It's your numlock that's on. It's for using your laptop as an adding machine like function. Do you see that certain letters also have numbrs on yr keyboard. Do you also see that theres the word numlock on one key. That's the key for turning on numlock ( in conjunction with the function key) so you can use those keys as an adding machine. Usually to turn numlock off and on you hold one finger on the function key and toggle the numlock key to turn it on and off. Consult your toshiba user guide for your particular model.

You have two options. You can get an external keyboard and connect it. or get a replacement keyboard and get it installed so that everyone can "understand you". :)

I have a Toshiba Satellite T1300, the computers starts fine but the video screen is black.

Try to hook it up to an external monitor, if this works, your video card is working, Next Step.. then look on the laptop keyboard for a functiion key with a little picture of a screen on it, usually u have to hold down the fn key and hit F4, or F5 or F6 etc, look at the F keys at the top of the keyboard, and hold down function key at the bottom left of the keyboard, usually near the alt and ctrl keys, if you dont have a fn key (function key then hit ctr key, and at the same time hit the F key with screen pic on it, it might say lcd on key or be a box inside a box on the key. If this doesnt work try rebooting the laptop in safe mode by hitting F8 key before windows starts and go into safe mode. It is possible that a recent program or windows update that was installed is causing the blank screen. If the black screen happened after a new software install, delete that software while in safe mode. And reboot, Good Luck :)

How about replacing the keyboard? Perhaps, something was spilled on the keyboard in the past.

Your Keyboard is most likely to be screwed. A drop of coffee is enough to damage it. You will have to replace the keyboard. cleaning will work onlly if something is obstructing you from pressing the keys.

Keyboard not responding or typing random letters

Sounds like the liquid has acted like a glue. You will need to get a cotton bud and dip it into some clean water. Try and clean the hole again and see if it still playing up. Also restart the computer and retry word to see if the same thing is happening.

Keyboard problem

If its a wireless keyboard, replace the batteries. If its not wireless, try plugging it into another port(if possible) and if it still doesn't work, you probably have a defective keyboard.
