I have a Canon Powershot SX10IS and I'm trying to upload pics to my Mac, but the screen on the camera says "communication error". I've never had this problem before, in the 1 year I've had the camera. I have a 16gig card, with over 4,000 pics, and I don't want to loose a single one. Thanks

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Why does my Canon G12 Communication has an error message when uploading to my mac

Probably your memory card is full, you should erase some pictures from the camera and it will work. It happened to my Canon G9 . I erased some old pictures from my memory card and the message Communication Error disappeared.

Can't upload pics from camera onto computer. Get "Communications error" on Camera screen and computer doesn't recognize any camera software.

Having gone over a month without a response to my query, I assume my suggestion to use a card reader solved the problem.

Hi how do i upload pictures from my canon powershot A470 to my mac desktop computer?

The best and easiest way is to use a card reader and upload to a folder you create on the desktop. From there, you can move the pics anywhere you want. typrice_163.jpg

Communication error

Use a card reader instead of the camera.

I've connected my canon powershot sx120 is to my pc using its usb cable.. and when i've switched it on, it stated "communication error" on its screen.. i've tried switching it on and off again, removing...

hey,
I've searched just now the web for answers for the same problem (thus finding your question). I also have Canon Powershot SX 120 is.

In the end I found in the Australian Canon support site that stated that "communication error" means you just have too many pictures on your camera card.
They suggest, as many people here on this site recommend, using a card reader rather than connecting the camera straight to the computer.
But I had an urgency to download pictures now, so I just erased some old pictures that I didn't need and it worked. I had to go under 3000 pics.

hope this helps!
