Question about Panasonic DVD & Blu-Ray Players

1 Answer

I'm experiencing problems with a Panasonic DMR-EX87 DVD recorder that is less than 6mths old. In the last few months while watching programs recorded to the hard drive, the picture often breaks up in the middle of the screen (somewhat pixelated and like interference) for several seconds at a time. This can be a 'on off' or happen quite frequently throughout the recorded program. This 'interference' doesn't happen when playing DVD movies. Many of these programs are recorded via Foxtel (cable), and while this interference is not visible when viewing the program (the cable reception is perfect), if it is recorded and viewed, the interference is often there. Any suggestions? Thanks Michele

Our BD D8200A suddenly displayed each time we turned it on the time shift bar even though we did not select it. It plays the channel selected in time shift but with constant alternation between the pause and play. Same thing happens when we try to play recorded television programs. It is hit and miss to get it to turn the menu screen on at all, and it is recording programs when we can achieve this, but then not allowing us to view the program as the time shift problem occurs with it. The pause/play symbol constantly flashes on the front of the recorder.

My guess is that your DVD player is malfunctioning. I'd check the warranty and just try and get another. The problem you're describing sounds like the DVD hardware is probably messed up.

John,

I'm afraid that all I can find to assist is a copy of the Instruction Manual in Italian. See here:

Panasonic DMR E55 Won't record AT&T U-Verse programs!

Make sure you only use the correct type of discs: DVD-RAM or DVD-R for recording and DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, Video CD, CD-Audio (CD-DA) and CD-R/RW (MP3, CD-DA, Video CD formatted discs) for playback.

DVD-RAM disks are in plentiful supply on eBay, both new and used. Keep an eye open and you should pick them up, new, for less than £1 Sterling each!

I am unclear, though, what you mean about recording to and from the VCR. The DMR-E55 doesn't have a VCR facility, just DVD.

Panasonic DVD problems

sorry to say but both of these sound like loader problems.ie the optics are faulty, you have to replace the full assy called a loader assy when this happens.Panasonic are the only company who offer part exchange tru authorised dealers.ie send back the faulty one and they will give reduced price on new one,.As to other makes see a lot of sonys with optic problems as well so isint just a panasonic problem. You could also try using ordinary dvdrs instead of ram discs as the optic has to work harder when recording and playing ram disc due to information contained.Hope I helped!
