My problem is similar except that I have to repair my squirrel cage because the hole on the motor side is elongated. Can anyone tell me how to get the shaft out. Mine is stuck in the bearings.

Had the same symptoms and found that tightening the squirrel cage set screws eliminated the noise.

Hi,
Those squirrel cage fans have a habit of coming apart, or getting dirt in them and going out of balance...then they wobble and hit the sides of the fan housing...
Make sure the fan is clean and also move it around a bit to make sure it is not coming apart....
Often the only way to fix them is too replace the sqirrel cage part...

Hws18vh6 model # when in heat squirl cage rubs and is very noisy

It sounds to me like you need new bearing on your blower. Also before I did that I would check to make sure that a set screw didn't come loose allowing squirrel cage to slip to one side and rub. Hope this helps. Thank you

Noice level high. Vibrating noice

Hi there. Clean both fans if dirty. (inside and outside) Check for foreign objects like insulation caught in the squirl cage blower. Make sure unit is level. Check for vibrating tubes.
Thanks

Water on the squiral cage side I don't know where its coming from

I don't know exactly what you mean by getting water on the dry side of the compartment. In any event, as you will see, there are very few sites that are dedicated to the maintenance and repair of evaporative coolers--you, in fact, submitted this problem of yours under the Air Conditioner section because there is no Evaporative Cooler section.

Having said this, I offer you two things: 1) a site that has a section dedicated to evaporative coolers, which took me a long time to find for my own problems:

http://yourhandymanzone.com/Your_Handyman_Zone_How_To_Pages_Home_Improvement_Zone_Cooling_Ventilation_Systems_Coolers.htm

and 2) the general idea that if you have water where it is not supposed to be, it likely is because there is a hole---obviously caused by rust--that allowed such water to get penetrated through. See more on rust holes of coolers here:
http://yourhandymanzone.com/Your_Handyman_Zone_How_To_Pages_Home_Improvement_Zone_Cooling_Ventilation_Systems_Coolers_Cooler_Has_Holes.htm

This should help get you on your way.

Good luck!
Brad

Squirrel cage installation.

If there is strong air flow blowing into the house the sq. cage should be OK. Possibly you need to replace the pads and make sure that the pump is not clogged and is distributing enough water to keep the pads wet.
