Our Panasonic big screen is doing the same and is also distorting the picture on the top and bottem as well.

Guru, Not sure if this is how I answer your question...

The Letters do look a bit 3D, as in they are shadowed. It looks a lot like the ghosts the old tube TV's used to get, but a bit more distorted. With lettering it looks more 3D and with people or objects it is more an outline, say around the head, shoulders, collar -- always going to the left.

Than you for your help, I hope this explains it a bit better.

One more comment...This morning, we now have yellow over white areas and the blue is connected to black areas. So a black shirt with white areas on it, the black has blue coming form the edges and the white appears yellow.

    Is this a lamp issue?

Hi Thank you very much for getting back to me. We called a TV repair shop and that is exactly what the problem is...the blue and yellow convergence ICs are out. They took it to the shop to fix and to confirm the problem.

I appreciate you sharing your knowledge, it was very helpful.

    Thanks!!

That can only be two issues. 1. the convergence ICs need to be replaced. Or 2. the blue CRt needs the coolant changed. Is there any way you can send a pic of whta the screen looks like then I can tell you for sure.

The TV was working fine until one day the picture no longer appeared. A friend told me that he had a similar problem and he was able to easily change a bulb inside. I pulled the TV from the wall and I have...

These don't use bulbs to my knowledge, they have 3 different picture tubes in them.

I would look for what's called a pico fuse around the transformer. If they open that would cause no power, and no picture. Usually though, if this is the heavy 3 picture tube projection that I believe it is,then I would suspect the IC Chips which are video amps and have 40-60 legs on a single chip.

My television only puts out a pic in 480. The 720 and 1080 are not working. Getting sound no picture

No input on a WS-55511 is capable of 720p . Inputs COMP1 and COMP2 ONLY accept 480i/480p . Input DTV accepts 480i/p and 1080i . When using Input DTV with a component connection(YPbPr) and you get a green or no picture then you will need to navigate the menus and setup input DTV for YPbPr instead of RGB.

Yellow, blue and green ghosting of picture. Convergence mode will not allow realignment of the red and blue lines

Hi,it sounds like a light engine problem.Lcd Technology uses 3 chips blue, green and red that create the image ,when they start to fail color discoloration will occur. If it's an Dlp pay attention to sounds of buzzing, whirling and high pitch sounds because it could be your colro wheel.

Ghosting of the image

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer2_bing.gif Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture
