RCA OPAL WON'T CHARGE-SAYS BATTERY FULL BUT....

When it's plugged in it says battery full but when you unplug it says "shutting down" and it turns off. I've tried to reset it but it doesn't work. It still does the same thing!

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

I have an RCA mp3 player M4304 and the battery says full, but it shuts down and reads "low battery" after 10 minutes. Can the battery be changed? If so, how?

If the MP3 player battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.

Rca opal m4oo4a will not come on will not charge when plugged in opal screen comes on but it is not charging when unplugged it says low battery then shuts off.

Sounds like there might be an issue with the firmware. Download the latest firmware from here:
http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1416

And follow the instructions to install it on your device. Older firmware did have issues with charging (though I think it was primarily with Windows 2000)

I just bought a RCA m4304 and when plugging it into the computer for the first time it shows opal initializing and won't turn on at all or go past the screen. Never got music on it or was able to use it.

When I turn on my M4304 OPAL it says Initalizing..... profiling requires 20MB free space. Shutting down. Then shuts off. If I plug it into my computer to try and delete files. My computer does not recongize it. It shows that is have a full battery. I have tried all the re-set methods given. I have tried downloading an upgrade. Nothing works. Can you help?

RCA Opal troubleshooting

Make sure the Hold Button - it's on the side of the Opal - is off.  When the hold button is on, it makes the Opal think the Flash disk is full, and you get all kinds of wacky reactions.
Hope this helps...

Hey just a few problems I hope you can fix

the battery might be fried. You should try doing a full cycle with it, meaning charge it for a few hours and then use it untill it fully drains.

do that a few times and the battery might restore.
good luck
