Question about Canon Printers & Copiers

4 Answers

I am just installing a new Canon MX7600. It says to not connect the USB cord but I did connect it and forgot to disconnect it before proceeding. When I started the machine I got an error message (5010). I turned it off and waited 5 minutes and restarted but got the same message. The book says to call a service rep if this happens. Any suggestions? Have I screwed this thing up?

    Thanks...but...

How do you uninstall the printer driver. I haven't installed anything. I just attached the phone line and the power cord...and accidentally I connected the USB.

I need to go away from my computer for about 1/2 hr. now but I will look for your response when I get back.

Hello there.

It sounds like the printer has partially installed the drivers but because you left the device plugged in, instead of unplugged, it has failed to setup the printer on the computer.

I recommend uninstalling the printer from 'Control Panel' on the Start Menu in Windows. You can uninstall the software from the Add/Remove area of the control panel.

When this has uninstalled completely, unplug the printer USB cable. Shutdown the computer and wait a few moments.

Then , with the USB cable still unplugged, power up the computer and re-insert the printer setup disc.

This will prompt you to install the printer again, then plug in the USB cable when prompted.

Hope this helps.
