I have almost the same problem. I used it when I first got it. I'm in the US and have a US version. Once the battery wore down, I plugged it in, and it flashed red and green, and so I thought it was charging and kept waiting for the light to turn to green to indicate fully charged. But now, it never will work unless it's charged into a power socket. It has to be run on electricity - the battery won't charge up! So the portable part is worthless! It says on the bottom of my battery, PBAT-118. Hope this helps.

I will need an exact model number on that one to be sure, but Haier produces European and American versions of their products. If you are in the US and purchased a European variant, then the AC Adapter will not work in US because we use a 5V system and the rest of the world uses a 110V system. You will either need to get it replaced for a US variant, or buy a transformer - tell Radio Shack, Circuit City or some KNOWLEDGEABLE store (aka, not wal-Mart) that you need a 110V to 5V transformer.

On the other hand, your variant could be for the right country, and the thing is just broke - return it now while you still can.

If your portable DVD player work with the AC power adapter in the wall outlet.100% the litium battery doesn't take any more holding charges. The litium battery should last u about 2 years with minium usages 2-3 hours a day.But that the DVD player and the litium battery must keep in very well conditon and wheather wise. Not in the heat or cold and the humitnity well shorten the lituim battey life very quickly and also could damages the portable DVD player too dosen't matter how much u used it.Tries webites like Amazon.com,Partstore.com,Ebay.com to buy a new litium battery or a compatible one.

Charging light not coming on

Good day sir, my guess is that your adapter is the culprit, if you have access to another charger please use it, if you may have the time, try to visit your dealer, and they be wiling to test your adapter. Other causes may be the charger DC port, or the battery, but let us stick first to the common adapter problem, hope this helps.

My prortable dvd player

Make sure the battery is installed in the correct direction, turn off the player, plug in the AC pack and look for the red charge light to illuminate on the front lip of the player. Give it a few hours to charge.

How do I charge battery

Simply hook the battery up to the player, plug in the adapter (house AC outlet, car adapter will not recharge batter), and turn the unit off.

The charging light should come on and when it goes out it's fully charged.

Battery back needs to be connected to the DVD player when charging. connect the batter pack to player. Run the DC/out from the battery pack to the DC/in in the player. plug the charger into the wall.

if that does not work, you have a bad battery
