Question about Magellan RoadMate 700 GPS Receiver
The unit has stuck on "Temperature below safe level". I live in Georgia. It is not cold nor have I ever seen this screen before. What do you suggest?
Had the same problem. It was the ribbon end of the hard drive connection the slips into a slot on the board. I carefully positioned the cable in the slot (there are no guides) and gently pushed it in. Powered it up and, walla, it worked perfectly. Thanks for the tip.

Thank you, I did refit the hard drive connection and heard it snap. Unfortunately I seem to have disconnectoed a gray cable that goes from a J6 position to another board. Too tiny for these eyes to see let alone reconnect. Any idea what it is for?

I had a Roadmate 700 with the same problem as yours, and the solution was simple: the hard drive inside had come loose!
All I did was open up the unit (4 screws on the back and a small snap-together clip on the end), and plugged the hard drive back into the cable. The cable has 2 black posts that fit into the hard drive, so you can't misalign the pins. On mine, the hard drive label was facing UP.
Once the hard drive was plugged in, I powered up, and could hear the hard drive spin up (which I hadn't heard before). The unit booted from the "Magellan" screen right into the menu almost immediately!
Hope this helps someone!!
