First make sure the needle is in the machine correctly- all the way up into the needle bar and that it is threaded correctly, etc

If this all checks out ok, take the bobbin case out of the machine. There are two ears on either side of the bobbin case- turn the left one to the left and the right one to the right. Remove the silver ring, and inspect the piece of metal that the ring came off of (looks like a circle with the top cut off). You have to locate the hook which is the piece that looks like a half moon inside the big round metal piece. Locate the tip of it, turn the handwheel toward you until the needle is in the lowest position, at this point the tip of the hook should be flush with top of the left side of the cut off circle. If this is not so, your machine needs to be re-timed which can be done from the bottome of the machine usually.

Let me know if you need any help with this

you can time it from the bottome of the machine, I would have to have a picture to know what needs to be adjusted but you can try to adjust the device yourself. If you can post a picture that would be great.

When the needle is not picking the bobbin thread: please check the following: a) When sewing stretchy fabrics, make sure you are using the proper designed specially for stretch fabric. Using regular point needle might result in skipping stitches.
b) When sewing with heavier thread such as denim thread, the needle used must be big enough so that the hole produce by the needle allows the thread to go down into the fabric but also have room to come back up
c) If the needle is not picking-up the bobbin thread after one needle was broken, it could be that the timing was forced and the sewing machine has to be checked by a technician.

Hi,

first of all make sure you have the needle in the correct way round, flat side facing back, try a new needle, it only has to be slightly bent or blunt and it will miss stitches, the tension unit is the small piece near the takeup lever and it only has a small spring but that has nothing to do with the threading picking up, if the machine misses stitches after trying the above then you will need to retime the machine either bu a shop or by yourself, if you are sewing on fabric that collects static such as knitted fabric make sure you use an anti-static needle otherwise it will miss stitches.

Goodluck..

    This how you retime it:
Wipe the oil off the bobbin case area.
Select straight stitch, take off the needle plate, take the bottom of
the machine off so you can see unber the raceway, take out the bobbin
if you have a drop in bobbin, take out the bobbin and bobbin case if
you have a side or front loading bobbin case and undo the two catches
and lower or take off the hook retaining plate, turn the balance wheel
by hand towards you so the needle goes down into the machine and then
starts to go back up, stop, leave it there, look at the point of the
hook, it should be just above the eye of the needle, if it is not you
will need to slacken off the screws on the vertical gear underneath the
raceway or if you have a side or front loading bobbin case undo the
screws on the shaft near the raceway, you can now move the point of the
hook to where it should be, tighten the screws up and put the bits back
so you can test sew, if it sews perfectly try it on a wide zig zag, if
it misses stitches you will need to reset it again moving the point
slightly left or right and test again, it may take a number of attempts
    so you will need patience.

    Goodluck again..

I have a euro pro shark sewing machine. I just changed the thread for another project and cannot get the needle to pick up the bobbin thread. Any ideas?

Try installing a brand new needle. Bent/damaged needles will sometimes not pick up the bobbin thread.

Make sure the machine is threaded correctly. Check the bobbin--ie, it is turning the correct direction in the bobbin case and is threaded properly through the bobbin tension.

You might also try pulling the bobbin thread up to the top before beginning to stitch.

I can't get the bottom thread to come up with the needle on my euro-pro shark intelli-sew

try this
make sure there is a 3-5 inch tail on bobbin thread
make sure there is a 3-5 inch tail on top thread, then hold the top thread tail with your fingers (away from the needle) & with your other hand turn the hand wheel manually on the right side of the sewing machine,, slowly letting down the needle down into the bobbin area & see if the bobbin thread will pick up this way

The bobbin thread will not pick up. I have sewed for many years and have never had this happen.

Check to make sure that the needle is inserted correctly and that it is perfectly straight and not bent.
