are you using HDMI input? Make sure you have it on the correct input as it will not start until it sees the the input from your tv. don't switch inputs real quick, give it some time and it should boot(about 3-5 seconds). Mine did the same thing with HDMI only.
I dont really know what to do, but there is this button on the xbox and next to the Xbox Live headset on the wireless controller that looks like this: )))
hold them both down at the same time, and you should see the 4 green lights running around the X or the on button and then blinking at the same time. Hope this helps!
if it wont load your icons and freezes before your xmb, put it into safemode and try restoring the filing system. to get it into safemode...
hold down the power button while the console is in standby. the light will go from red to green.it will beep once flash green beep again, and then beep a third time. after the third beep the light will turn red.
once the light is red, take your finger off the power button and place it back on the power button. the light will go from red to green, beep once flash and then beep twice quickly. after it does the double beep, take your finge roff. the light will stay green and you'll get a screen asking you to connect the controller.
after connecting the controller, try option 3, or whichever option is restore filing system. this can possibly correct media loading and will 95% of the time fix the console when it freezes before loading up your icons(the xmb)
What appears to be the problem in my case is that the RF module board in which the power button and the controller sync lies has been damaged. If aboslutely no lights come on when you power on your xbox 360, but it loads like normal, something has fried on the module and needs to be replaced. You can ether contact microsoft about this, or buy one off of ebay and install it yourself or have someone who knows how install it for you. Doing so would void your warrenty of course though.
