Question about Mitsubishi WD-52525 52" Rear Projection HDTV
Turned on my tv and have a blue screen with flickering horizontal lines. Thought it was the lamp but it still has the flickering lines. The green LED light is solid. What would it be?
I had a similar problem - got worse as the TV warmed up more. Looked real bad when
the scene was dark.
I opened up the unit and replaced capacitors. I have instructions on how to do it but do
not know how to add this file (pdf of 1.8mb) to this posting.
I am glad to share my information, just do not know how.

Yeah, caps fail on this tv. about 16 electrolytics and about 80 surface mount caps. The boards in the chassis that need this rebuild are the Power, FMT, DM, and Terminal 2. The boards are labeled in the corner.

Sounds like the 1000uf capacitors on the FMT board need replacing. This is a common symptom with that chassis. There are three 1000uf caps that fail on that PC Board

Could you show a picture of the distended cover you mentioned?
Were the light blue lines you were referring to, diagonal, or truly horizontal?
