I have a 4 year old Samsung side by side fridge and the freezer works just fine, but the fridge side won't cool anymore. We have the digital temp set at 38 and it shows its at 65 degrees and getting warmer. I unplugged it and waited 10 minutes and that didn't help. Any suggestions?

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly

Press the Power Cool and the Power Freeze buttons for 8 seconds it will enter the diagnostic mode.

Take a look at this link to determine what fault you have under
Step One diagnostics..

http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=209

There are 13 different faults than can be displayed. Each one of the LEDs in the picture under step one indicate what that fault is by the DIGIT position of the flashing LED. (Legend to the left of picture) Usually that fault is either a component or wiring problem.

The diagnostic test should pinpoint the problem.

Note that the Power Cool and Power Freeze buttons are depressed for 8 seconds to clear any faults. It the fault remains it will reappear again.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Thank you, however after holding those down for 8 seconds, the display beeped at me and went blank, but did not show anything. Then after about 15 seconds, all the lights came back on like normal.

You just reset the fault. If it still exists in time it will reappear. Use the link I gave you to for determining what it is that is making the fault appear. If it does not come back it could be a 1 time thing. Usually they repeat. Kelly

Freezer side of my RS2534WW Samsung is not working, fridge side is fine, evap coil fan is running,,, what could be wrong , it's only 7 years old

Your indications does not make sense! Your unit has ONE compressor that uses ONE evaporator coil to cool both sides. So if the FREEZER side is not cooling the fridge side should not cool either! Are you sure you don't have the freezer and refrigerator sides reversed?

Samsung fridge RS2630, icing up on freezer and fridge not cooling

Could be the defrost element. If it does not work and melt the ice off of the evaporator, icing will continue and serve as an insulator. Freezer and refrigerator temps will suffer.
If you unplug the unit and let it defrost for a day and plug back in it will work fine till it freezes up again.

Kenmore Elite bottom freezer refridgerator

I just went through this with my refridgerator and actually posted one of the questions. Here is what I found ........

In the freezer compartment behind the panel there is an evaporator fan which pulls cold air from the freezer and pushes it up into the refrridgerator compartment. If the fan is not working it is one of three things.. 1) there is so much frost in the fan area the fan blade is stopped and cannot push the cold air into the refridgerator compartment or the air channel is blocked. 2) there is no electricity going to the fan (usually tied to the door switch of the refirdgerator compartment, and 3) the motor is dead and will have to be replaced.

Solution to #1 - defrost but there is another problem in the "frost-free" part of the system which must be addressed or the frost will return and it will happen again in the future.

Solution #2 - check to see there is power to the fan. (most are 110VAC but some are 100VDC. Use a meter and check)

Solution #3 - If there is power, the motor is dead. Replace the motor. Be aware that AC and DC motors are different and replace per manufacture's specifications.

RS21 DCNS FRIDGE COOLING FAULT

There is a fan behind the plastic. This distributes the cold air throughout the fridge. What happens is this fan stops turning due to freezing up. A temp solution is to unplug the samsung for 6-12 hours to allow the ice to melt from around the fan. This is a known design fault. It is easy to dismantle the plastic cover and defrost the frozen fan with a hair dryer, this way the fridge will only be off for about an hour

Freezer not cool enough and the Icemaker not working

Defrost the fridge freezer for 24 hrs and before turning on check for any water leaks. Turn back on if the cabinet pulls down to temp in 12hrs you probably have a defrost heater problem if it doesnt pull down at all it could be the fan or sensor fault. Either way you would be best to contact a suitable refrig engineer. Hope this helps. fishersofcambridge
