Question about KitchenAid Dryers

1 Answer

WE HAVE A KITCHENAID MODEL NUMBER YKEYS700GQ0 WE BOUGHT BRAND NEW AND EVERYTHING WORKS LIKE, THE BLOWER AND HEATER BUT THE TUB WILL NOT TURN. ALL THE CONTROLS ALSO APPEAR TO BE WORKING FINE. ALSO WHAT APPEARS TO BE A WHITE ROUND WHEEL ON THE END OF A LONGER BLACK HOLDER WHICH LOOKS LIKE IT CLIPS ON SOMETHING. It came of and was sitting on the floor of the dryer when I took the back off. IT WOULD APPEAR THAT A PULLY OR BELT FITS ON IT SOMEHOW. I AM THINKING IT MIGHT BE A BELT OR BROKEN PULLY. I WAS WONDERING IF THAT IS THE CASE HOW I WOULD BE ABLE TO GET TO IT AND TAKE THE OLD ONE OFF AND PUT A NEW BELT OR PULLY ON. DO I DO IT FROM THE BACK, TOP OR FRONT? Is it the belt or pully that turns the tub? If it is a pully or belt, or a shaft that turns the tub I need to know how to take it off and how to put it back on.

That is your idler pulley which holds the tension of the belt to the motor. If you have a access panel in the back of dryer than that would be the place to install the pulley.

My dryer is about 7-8 years old. It has been taking longer to dry clothes for a little while now but within the last few days will not heat up. Spins fine, just no heat. Breakers are good.Any solutions?

Have you cleaned the blower vent pipes lately. Sounds like the vents may be stopped up with lint and it got too hot. Clean vents and where the fan blade is to be sure the fan can turn. I have found everything you can think of in the blower housing that would keep the fan from turning.Be sure and get the lint out they all have some. As far as the heat not working check all thermastats , the thermal fuse on blower box and thermal cutoff usely on the heater box. and the heater coil also check with an ohmeter from heater coil connections to the metal box it's in ,the coil could be grounded inside the box.
Hope this helps.

KitchenAid Gas Dryer wont heat everything else

Does the dryer heat at all? turn you dryer on for about 1 minute then open the door, any heat? yes= check to be sure you venting is good and clear. if good then you have 2 common issues i would check first. the thermal fuse could be blown or the gas valve coils could be bad. give me you model number and i can give you more suggestions of what to check and how

Motor runs, but timer does not advance, no heat.

if the timer is on auto it won't advance if there is no heat, you'll need a meter to read out parts in dryer,is it gas or electric?try first by checking the thermal fuse on the blower wheel housing,if that's good check the heater if it's electric,if it's gas check the ignitor, sensor gas coilssend model number and if it's gas or electric next time

Heat comes on, but no blower or tub motor.

1Check door switch, has to be closed to turn on motor.
2Motor is only 115V in USA so 1 breaker may be out and handles not thrown Reset breakers,
3 Switch on motor its self is only for heaters and you say it allows the heaters to come on and operate and still no motor?
Then here is your problem the motor switch is out. If the motor is not running then even the heaters should not operate. If they are and the motor is not running the motor centrifugal switch is stuck in the "RUN MODE" OR
If I have it wrong and the motor is actually running but nothing is turning the belt or idler is broken on the dryer drum and the motor is doing what it is suppose to.

Kenmore 70 series electric dryer hums but won't tumble

you do need a new motor.ypu need to take 2 screws out of top where lint filter goes.take top up and their will be 2 screws one on each side take scres out and pull upward and forward and the front panel will come off.you will need to remove belt and tub then you will see motor.you will need to be able to grab back side of motor that attaches to blower and front shaft of motor and turn opposite way to come loose from blower.you will then take back clip off and front clip and unplug motor and pull out.good luck hope instructions helped.

No heat no blower air

Your heat coil has burned out. They are pretty easy to replace if you are handy with tools but if not have a repairman do it it is usually pretty inexpensive. I replace them for about 70 bucks and the part is around 30 bucks. Good luck. Bright side is once you get it replaced it's like having a brand new dryer again.
